As I mentioned previously, couldn't we play a mid-week evening game at home, if the ground is available. No matter when and where we play the game, Newcastle will bring few, if any, supporters. We could possibly attract more  fans to an evening mid-week game than travelling outside Widnes.

@scouseviking55 only thing is part time players travelling from Newcastle trying to get time off work could be the problem

we would have same issue if away midweek

@pensioner

The whole weekend is a washout, due to the marquee that is being erected for the wedding on the pitch.

.... and the dismantling of said marquee. It's not a 3m x 3m gazebo from B&Ms.

Well I am not a happy bunny, been waiting for announcement of date - expecting to be at home

had to book hotel for 2 nights to ensure I was ok for game

nothing from club to say it could not be played at home, but Paulie reports the stadium was not available and known months before - effing shambles if you ask me

st holder for years but this sticks in the craw

@vikingfox71 I think most of the Newcastle team is full time as a lot of them are York reserves, so they could probably play on a Wednesday night.

I wonder if we played along the side of the marquee, the pitch would be about the same size as Odsal!!!

For me, a midweek game would be better option rather than trying to find an alternative venue.

@frankg Ha ha ha nice one!

I think the problem with a midweek fixture is the player welfare issue. It's a quick turnaround from a Wednesday, to the following Sunday, Also Newcastle/York or whoever is in charge of that Club, may not want to play it midweek. I suppose the date of the fixture (16th-17th) and us being the home team, makes it our responsibility to find a venue. If it was me, and with AC's friendship with Degsy, I would be asking Leigh if we could play it as some kind of 'curtain raiser' on the 16th, when they are at home to HKR (5.30ko) We could 'ticket' it so the shared gate with Newcastle can be calculated, and maybe get some deal off Leigh, for fans to stay and watch the main event.

But that's me

Paulie xx

If, as seems the case the game is not at Widnes on the Sun, as we would expect then something should have been  sorted by now so we know what is going on....its in less than 2 weeks to that weekend

It`s simple for me if I get any invites to anything now for that weekend I will accept and not go to the game whereas I would have said can`t do that going the game can we do ? instead

This club????????

.........website still has big flash re get your season ticket...can somebody tell them we are well into the seasom lol(should be considering selling a half season ticket now )

Does anybody work full time for Widnes ...these datails are important shows a competent set up but all seems sloopy...................

One can understand it if all the people working are giving up their free time but if people are paid it`s a different matter...............what is the situation re staffing?anybody know?

Its bank holiday today so fair enough but as its now the next 'home game' I think fixture details need to be announced tomorrow. Although not many of them, its a 3 hour trek for the Newcastle fans so they will want to put plans in place. I wonder if the club will be doing a coach like when Oldham play at Bower Fold.
