What is our case for SL?

I have been watching a lot of old games of Widnes playing SL both first time around and second. It seems light years away now, beating Wigan, Saints and Leeds and looking like we belonged in the comp. If a new owner came in and had enough money to support us in SL, what would you want us to achieve? Do we a supporter base deserve such an opportunity? I remember between 2014 and 2016, three seasons which should have been high points for Widnes but in reality I remember them more for the negativity, 2016 after we lost a few, I distinctly remember people shouting for protests or saying they won't attend games until Betts leaves (absurd). So, is there any point in Wides aiming for SL if the town refuses to buy into the team unless we were competing for trophies?

I agree time does move on but Leigh went from attracting 2,500 in the championship to attracting 8,000 in the space of 5 years. A town smaller than Widnes.

Because Beaumont threw money at 'Project Leigh'. It costs money to give the punter a worthwhile reason to come along. He rebranded the Club, puts bands on pre-game, and more importantly brings in players of pedigree.
