It is far too early to say Spelly but the signs are not good so far & I would not be surprised if we get a weaker squad than we had last season. *Position outside top 6 but hopefully not in a relegation fight.*

* If you offered me that now for my mob, I'd snatch your hand off mate! *

But it seems from the answers here, and on other threads too, that NP regulars are not exactly brimming with confidence about the first campaign of Coleman and Co.

Spelly.

Widnes should be competing at the top end of this division, there is no doubt.

We always seem to flatter to deceive though so I'm guessing it'll be more of the same in 2024.

im actually glad there has been a bit of a clear out, it's long overdue and I do like the sounds of the new coach.

Featherstone not going up presents an opportunity, without automatic promotion they don't need to have such an expensive squad in the Championship next season. Quite a few players will become available. Some will want to stay in Yorkshire with the likes of Wakefield and Bradford,  but not everyone will have space, we may potentially be able to pick a couple of players up.

@widiot

As you say our new coaching team may make a difference - they haven't been 'at the top' and are fighting to get there. Different to JK who has lived there for years and doesn't have to prove anything.

You don't have to forget the IMG criteria either. Clubs with a good rating will be a target for players who  have thoughts about being SL players.

Those clubs who are below B grade will struggle to attract imo.

Amor questioning the Featherstone squad and their motivation, sounded like he was describing himself at Widnes in his final season.

My point exactly mate and definitely his attitude at Widnes. He was really shite.

I think shite is a bit harsh. He was solid enough. The writing was on the wall with his attitude around the Dewsbury game though, which was a costly defeat.

Just my opinion and going to Benidorm didn't help his cause. 🙈

Amors heart was not in it for Widnes and he just saw it as a top up of his pension, then alongside his media work. To slate Featherstone after his attitude at Widnes, it just doesn't sit with me as a Widnes fan.

Amor presumably was one of the top earners, if not the top earner, in our squad.

He didn't play particularly well, unlike Matty Smith never lead the team as a player of his standing would be expected to have done, took our money and then dumped us fast as his media work increased.

Turned out to be a poor signing and a selfish person.
