This is my first post since my little outburst about the Swinton coach being bricked in the stadium car park. I decided to drown my sorrows following that dismal display and was perhaps a little damning in my words regarding Swinton, so I do offer my apologies to Spelly. And congratulations on another good win at the weekend 😀
My thoughts on what has happened since:
1 - JJ going - no great loss for me, hasn't done much. Fair play to him for having another crack at SL.
2 - Craven potentially going - an absolute stalwart for us over the years and undoubtedly one of our better players when fit... but injuries have caught up with him and perhaps better for both parties for a fresh start, particularly as he's probably our top earner.
3 - Adminstration - absolutely no chance.
4 - Chris Hamilton - no smoke without fire, doesn't seem to be very popular. Wrong appointment?
5 - New coach - take the news articles about who could be in the frame with a pinch of salt, genuinely no idea who would want to come here right now though. I persume the Franny Cummins posts were a joke?!
6 - new hooker - rave reviews from Wigan fans and appears to be a season long loan so no faffing about with him coming and going every other week. Hopefully he does well.
7 - the rest of the season - no doubt we are now in a relegation battle. It's not gonna be pretty and I'm fully expecting a hammering from Bradford on Monday night and also don't believe this current squad has the bottle to go to Keighley and get a result the following week either.
8 - "investors" - no chance. Unless one of us lunatics wins the euro millions, no one in their right mind will squander a load of money on this team (perhaps even this sport)
The sport does need some drastic investment! I think the only way the sport can reach an elite level in this country would be for the RFL/super league to sell the rights to the sport to someone like Amazon who could transform the sport to compete with the nrl
no such thing as sports any more at the pro levels it’s all a business and rugby league has been managed by incompetent boards/leagues for too long. The only way rugby league can survive as a pro sport and do well would be with a huge restructuring and marketing so hopefully IMG is the start of that

I did think your comments were (well) OTT, but...............
Apologies accepted, and thank you about our latest win!
As regards the damage to the coach, I was talking to our chairman on Sunday, and it wasn't done on the stadium car park. The players had disembarked, and the coach was then driven to "---- a side street nearby. It could even had been done before kick off."
The reason the undamaged vehicle was spotted on the car park after the game, is because that was the replacement. The driver took the damaged one back to base, and returned with another.
At no time in my posts did I suggest it had been done by fans, and if it did happen pre / during the game, I would strongly suspect that it wasn't anyone at the game who was / were the culprit(s) involved.
Spelly.
The comment from SL game that indicated a massive increase in player insurance (iirc 40%!!!) next year could be the elephant in the room tbh. It will take a chunk out of the cash pot and could leave most players únhappy but more importantly it will reduce the Championship funding. That could upset many rival clubs and hinder their ability to meet contract payments.
I have said before that the new standards promoted by IMG should broadly help our case by looking what clubs do outside the game on the field, but from point of view of us fans the game on the field matters probably more than anything else!
From the outside it seems that changes are being made to make the club more sustainable and that may be a necessary step for the club's planning for next season and beyond.
We are all speaking in ignorance atm but it certainly looks like a major re-vamp of the club 's past decisions. Re-organising the contracts with players (if rumours are to be believed), etc and trying to do it in the middle of the season is not easy but I síncerely hope that the Board get to a point that allows them to explain just where they see the club going forward.
In the meantime we can only try to keep our cool and allow the dust to settle.
