The first four games (JAN/FEB)

London (A)

Workington (H)

Halifax (A)

Dewsbury (A)

What are peoples expectations for the opening quartet of games? I think Workington is a home banker given the gulf in quality between the championship and league one but we need to be winning a couple of the away games as well to get a decent early position in the league. I'll go for wins at London and Dewsbury (though both games will still be challenging) but not Halifax putting us on six points. Any less than that would be a shade disappointing for me.

One win from four, anything else is a bonus. This is Widnes, anything can wrong and usually does.

For me we need to be targeting 3 wins from 4 if we are serious about the play offs

I actually think we'll win comfortably at London, they seem a club in disarray at the moment and I fancy them to be lingering around the bottom of the table this year.

Workington at home, again I expect a win by 20-30 points.

Halifax away will be tough; they've signed really well and would expect them to finish 3rd behind Fev & Leigh, can't see us winning there although I'm looking forward to going as it's one of the better away days.

Dewsbury, not been a happy hunting ground for us, but I fancy our chances this time around.

So 3 wins out of 4 for me.

If we want to make a bid for the playoffs, then we need to be winning three of the first four fixtures and for my money, Halifax are a team we should beat at home and at the least give a fright away and hopefully beat. Fax have signed decent players, but so have we.

In my opinion, the biggest improvement in our squad looks to be the fitness.

Have we had an update on the progress of Levy, because he could make a big Impact when available.

I agree with others that 3 wins out of the first four games is a must if we want to finish in the play off positions.

I think 3 wins out of 4 is important and should be attainable with Halifax away being the one I don’t expect us to win.

Could Dewsbury be a banana skin yet again but this time because it’s a Monday night? You hope the fixtures have been out long enough that players could sort shifts but work things can affect this and if we’re not full strength on a Monday night away in Yorkshire because of players full time jobs we could slip to yet another defeat at that horrible ground

I think 2 wins out of the first 4 is more realistic but 3 out of 4 should be our aim

4 should be our aim. Even though I'm predicting 3, I would expect the coach and players to be going all out for each match.

One thing is for sure it’s his squad now there is no more excuses of it’s not his team or not having enough players or anything else if Simon is targeting a play off spot in this division every game needs to be targeted as a win

I feel like I seen something in a video maybe in of the players craven and Owens and one of them mentioned about the team targeting games to win in house.

Very very dangerous tactic if so, the aim should always be to go into every game thinking you can win otherwise what’s the point

I’m with Pascal here and think we can win all 4. Fax away is a tough game, but on the basis our confidence should be high after the first two wins, we should be in a good place to beat them!

I’m as optimistic as the next man but let’s not get carried away. This London squad is woeful minus a few known players.

Of course it’s good that we are winning by a big margin at HT and should be more but let’s take it game by game for now

Not a good start for Halifax, beaten 30-2 in the second half at Batley after leading 16-0. Should give the team confidence they can beat them. We were unlucky to get beat by a point there last season, and I think this years team/squad is a lot better.
