The Widnes crowd have always been muted.Even during the glory years you could hear a pin drop at many games unless it was a big cup tie or a local derby.But a pre season friendly in front of 900 fans ?
@sandgroper You mean you don't think they should confirm it officially? Every other club does it, and Widnes used to do it. It's called being professional.
Is atmosphere for a friendly really worthy of discussion from the club/CH?
Also, with the greatest of respect, the atmosphere hasn't been good since 2019 at least bar the odd match, but being constantly disappointed and marooned in the bottom half of the 2nd division doesn't help!
Whilst it doesn't look great how many non-fans do you think look at the website? Do you think it would generate much/any interest if they had someone on there almost F.T updating it regularly?
The sole purpose of the league express is to talk about rugby. It's literally the only job it has. WV clearly have lots of issues, not least with sorting the squad out on the pitch.
Seems like a bit of an overreaction on here, even if the lack of updates could irritate people slightly.

@jdgsport Well this is a first to see the club replying to someone. They have never replied to several emails or messages left. We are worse of with communication than we ever was under JR. Did we not employ someone to do all this ?.
The club asked the fans to react ie like share posts on social media as it is one of the grading areas of IMG, they employed someone to do the social media side so this is why fans kick off. Its all simple things but the club for whatever reason continue to alienate themselves from their loyal fan base. I know people are passionate but, really, this biblical level of moaning after a pre-season friendly is too much.
We're a mid-table Championship RL team. We do some things ok, we do some things sh*te.
We're not Real Madrid.
We have a go, some of it's ok, some is crap. Money's a factor, of course.
But this constant sniping is weird. You know we're skint, you know we're half crap. I'm sure we're trying but, we aren't what we used to be. And even when we were the best team in the World, we were sh*te at most things, including comms.
Either muck in and support the team or pretend you were always a Saints fan and f*ck off.
What is going on or rather not going on within Widnes Vikings club? It is now nearing noon on Tuesday & there is still no report of the game v Whithaven on the club site under the news section. This really is not good enough. This is not the way to generate interest in the club within the town. I would have thought the club would be doing everything in it's power to generate more interest with the floating & possible new supporters. This relatively new attitude of delaying such posts shows apathy & an amateurish approach within the club itself. It is no way for a club of our standing to behave.
Who can say.
When you look at the media of other clubs and the way they engage with supporters on various platforms we are years behind.

@prisoner Fair enough. That actually makes sense, rather than what seemed (To me) an OTT reaction to a meaningless friendly.
Also if they've actually employed someone to do this then it seems bad. I thought they had cut their cloth accordingly and it was a fill in job for someone.
Plenty of useful information about tomorrow's match under the 'Game Info' button on the Widnes v Doncaster page of the website...... IMG will be well impressed... ffs what an absolute dog's dinner we are at the minute.
