Team for Dewsbury

An ordinary game played in poor weather conditions which Dewsbury with their bigger forwards were better equipped to handle. Their kicking game was also better than ours and they deserved their win.

We are going to struggle to progress beyond mid table status if we can’t add a couple of big, aggressive forwards. We missed Smith and Grady tonight but injuries will always be a part of the game and you can never expect to be at full strength.

The club have to be careful. There’s only going to be goodwill to them for so long.

The recruitment has been dire on the whole.

Say it every week it is incredible the lack of size we have, incredible. There has to be players out there who can be better than what we have now.

Surprised at the Our League comments, my feed was faultless!

That said, it only have me a clearer view of possibly the worst second half of rugby I’ve seen for years! So frustrating when we eventually had a couple of chances and blew them! Then again, on a dry day, on a full size pitch we will destroy Dewsbury. We were simply overpowered throughout the game by the size of their players. Christ, Finn was as big as our second rowers! Didn’t help that we forgot to pass the ball and instead went ‘one out’ to try to beat them at their best game.

For me, the absence of Smith was huge as we needed him to steady the ship and guide the gameplay. Some people need to get over the DR with wire as without them today we would have been much, much worse off.

Very disappointing result tonight but not totally unexpected. The game was a rerun of the London game exactly. Non existent goal line defence & our forwards bullied once again resulting in us repeatedly bringing the ball away from our own line & having no territory. I fear this will just be repeated game after game especially away from home & at home against Leigh, Featherstone & Toulouse etc as our forwards are bullied. They are trying but are being overpowered as they are not big enough & as in previous recent seasons they will tire after a few weeks of this.  Fans need to be realistic. It is not the dual registration players fault we lost, we are an average team that will end up with  24 points this season at best.  Grady & Smith were missed but we were comprehensively beaten in every department & doubt their presence would have produced a victory. It is going to take time for us to be a top five side & if the fans start deserting the cause it will not happen.

I switched off with 10 to go but its not effort they’re lacking, it’s quality and consistency

I could never have played anywhere near their level but as a fan I am frustrated with the lack of ideas they have when they’re in a game against anyone who has a go

We could do with a couple of big wire forwards to help us out, and get them on at least a months loan, with a agreement that they can go back to wire, if they have a injury crisis, and need them back.  Because at the moment, I don’t know, but I presume, we get told we can have the wire players , about2- 3 days before a match, which means they can only train with us on the Saturday before the match, so they won’t be used to playing with our regular players, and which doesn’t help when it comes to putting moves together on match days.

Everyone picking holes in the games we lose, and completely forgetting the good stuff we've done in games we've won.

Of course a disappointing night and result.  I fear we will always lose games on fields like that because our lads just aren't used to playing on it.  If you do all your technique work on the mats and on the iPitch you're going to be soft in poor conditions, which is what we were last night.

People very selective on the dual reg, I think it's great we can rely on them to send 2-3 across when we need it.  One poster saying bin off the dual reg and another saying Ellis Robson was our best player!

Some truth in the above but so far we have beaten a side that will probably be relegated twice and a team that will finish in the bottom half at home. Next week we will beat Whitehaven at home, probably convincingly. But will be just be papering over the cracks?

Poor game in poor conditions, played by two poor teams. Not a great advert for the Championship.

In my view, our failing seems to be more about a lack of aggression in our forwards rather than size. Was their pack that much bigger than our pack? Their forwards seemed to run the ball and tackle with more aggression. We reverted to our usual failing of half hearted drives and players too easily tackled. And we do not seem to be able to defend the line.

I was optimistic coming into the season and despite the London and Dewsbury results, we can still turn it around and get a top five finish.

I welcome the addition of the Warrington players and would have played Patton before Lyons. We need to have forwards on the bench - there is no point in playing Lyons on the bench, unless we have no decent forwards available. I wouldn't mind having Latu back if he is available.

We need to finish in the top five and a chance of promotion this season. If not, any decent young players such as Dugdale, will be picked up by other clubs; Smith and Tomkins may not want another year in the Championship;  and the likes of Owens, Craven and possibly others may find better deals elsewhere.

I’d say the Dewsbury pack was bigger but still more significant was the size of their bench compared to ours. Jay Chapelhow (coming back from injury) aside we had no big forwards to bring on. I think this was a major factor in us struggling to make headway.

The London game was more worrying for me. Dewsbury had a big pack, small pitch and terrible conditions and heavy pitch suited them.  London was at home on the i-pitch. We made them look like world beaters. All well and good, full time squad etc but Whitehaven kept the score closer and Featherstone stuffed them both away from home as well.

Fev steamrollered London yesterday but London were tiny in the middle of the park - they had two hookers on the field at the same time (Fozzard and Pelissier) and their starting props Battye and Krasniqi arent very big either, if you saw the two teams lined up at kick off if was no surprise to see Fev roll London up the middle.

For me, the amount of penalties we conceded yesterday really cost us.  We lacked discipline and so lost a lot of ground and put ourselves on the back foot too often.  If we had not conceded as many penalties then we may not have been so tired from defending and might have had a chance.

For the OuRLeague App, I had no problem with the streaming.
