@jdgsport So it is not the actual 5 clubs that finished above & below rather those around the circle. This is based on Salford at summit then 2nd one side of circle the 3rd placed on the other etc etc.
Thanks James.
Yes. You wouldn't be able to do it on the 5 teams directly above and below you - there wasn't five teams that finished above Widnes, for example; likewise no teams finished below Newcastle.
As the RFL are involved in the new structure, I am not expecting the fixtures to based on a fan-friendly, common sense approach - after all look at the weird number of consecutive home and away games we played this year.
The last time it was one division was 1972
I wouldn’t call that recently Prisoner
It seems recent to me, but funnily enough I only have a vague memory!!!!
I think it was one division when I first started watching Widnes in around the mid/late 50's, but probably spent too much time running around the terraces playing tick to remember many games!
Not quite. My dad was alive then. We walked to home games. When the first team was away we would normally go to the A team game at Widnes. A few times each season would go to Saints or Warrington for top of table games. If you went to the A team game you got the first team's result announced at full time. Otherwise had to wait until about 17.25 to hear the result on radio's Sports Report. The players used to come to the matches on horses then.
In the mid sixties Dad drove to such as Swinton, Wire & Wigan & Leeds for the top 16 play offs, occasionally Oldham. Went to Hunslet once pre M62 of course & it took 2 to 3 hours each way!
Very similar experience to mine!!! ! was 11 yrs old in 1951 and my dad wouldn't take me until I could see over the concrete barrier around the Wire ground!!!
Bevan was in his pomp then!!!!!!
