I like Tyrer and think he can only be of help to Roby and edge

I think roby is ready and is showing himself to be a decent player but if just feel more confident with the experience of Tyrer

Got to be honest, not too fussed about Tyrer signing. Good player, but think Edge/Roby are good enough to play right now and will be around for a lot longer.

The problem with them 2 players mentioned is that they are both lightweight and against many bigger teams they can be rolled. Roby is more of a utility back rather than a out n out centre and Edge has played less than 10 games (some been on the ring)

Roby, atm, is as you say a typical 'utility back'.

We have had them for years, John Myler, Barry Dowd, David Eckersley were always there or thereabouts but, because of the players around at that time, were never given the opportunity to specialise in a particular position.

Their skill and benefit to our team is there for all to see as we can't afford ranks of specialist players!

I rate Roby, I think Joe Edge (with respect to the young lad) has a lot of work to do and didn't develop at Warrington at the rate expected, for whatever reason.

If we want to have ambitions of getting out of this league again you need points machines outwide, and Tyrer is just that.

I agree but if you look at the signings made thus far, Jewitt, Cook, Tyrer all have common traits, they are solid operators compared to the young lads they’re replacing. I think Sheens has sort of made his mark and said we need to be a harder nut to crack.

Isn't the usual phrase players who will 'do a job'? They know the game and can deal with most tactics thrown at them, and they can apply the coach's tactics on the field.

They can lead the younger players and to a degree look after them. In truth the 'Chaps' could well have become better players in that environment, but that's water under the bridge now. We don't know what TS's view on that is.

We seem to be reasonably sorted in the backs, half back still to be appointed, maybe an experienced winger.

From the promises made to date more big signings are still to be made, maybe as out of contract players come looking for homes. Some may be borderline SL forwards coming to realise that PT maybe a safer bet atm.

All this talk about Edge & Roby but neither of them have been announced as signed yet! I think it more important we keep Lyons & Johnson although I appreciate they play in different positions.

Edge has now.

Agree regarding Lyons and Johnson.

Don't know if the drip feed is to excite the supporters or simply reporting signings actually as they happen.

I think Tyrer is a good signing - presumably he will take over kicking duties from Owens.

I'd imagine Tyrer and Spedding will be first choice centres. Edge looked threatening when he played, though whether his long-term position is centre remains to be seen.

Can't see many opportunities for Roby apart from as a back-up option across the back line - assuming Johnson re-signs (I do wonder whether our bias in going right last season may put him off!)
