@james Do you recall at the Members Monday night, the other week, Hamilton said there would be an announcement soon regarding some sort of Academy/Pathway young player development to be announced shortly? Or was I distracted, listening to the Nodding Dogs around the room discussing how it's only a matter of time before we are back in SL?

Confused

Is there any need for those comments regarding the crowd totally tasteless and unnecessary. And to answer your question YES he did say that, give it time.

1. I never mentioned any individual, though I could, and just like you, I'll say what I want.

2. How long do the club want? Pre season has started.

1. Those “nodding dogs” are supporters, real supporters the kind that love the club AND want them to get back into SL there is no need to slag them off for wanting that, no need at all.

2. And…….

It's a cronton college link up. The way it was received in the room is a fully fledged academy is back.

Your season ticket will get access to college fields to watch Cronton v Arch Bishop High at 3.30pm

I wasn't at the members evening so I can't comment.

but I'll tell you one thing, there are a handful of people on social media who would support the club if they'd announced a sponsorship deal with Al Quaeda. One individual on the Facebook page reckons the deal with the bailiffs is good, "in case it happens again". I'm surprised that sponsorship deal doesn't appear to have been discussed on here. Obviously it's out of the clubs hands with the stadium, but for me to get in to bed with such a company isn't great.

Would you complain as much if it was a gambling company who sponsored us?  A business that does much more damage to families than any DCBL.  And what DCBL do is a double-edged sword.  Yes, they go into peoples houses to collect debt, but they also go into companies to recover money from those who would try to defraud the little man, and not pay their fines.

Note:  I have no link with DCBL or any other such company.  I work in a totally separate business.  I just like to take a balanced view.

I think they were trying to pussyfoot around it a bit until Coleman let the cat half out of the bag. They definitely said there would be something academy/pathway development coming in a few weeks. But in fairness, I think that was more of an impromptu reaction to an unexpected discussion, to it being already planned/locked in and so anything could have happened to knock it back before confirmation happens.

Agree with the sentiment about there being a few fans who would blindly support anything the club does (just as they would likely argue that there are people who moan about anything the club does).

Regarding DCBL I'm relatively indifferent - I can see both sides of the argument, it doesn't particularly offend me, just like alcohol/betting/cigarette sponsorships don't.

As for the comments from a fan about "in case it happens again" is probably a good example of showing why blindly supporting things sometimes highlights how out of touch some people are with reality - don't think Widnes' problems have ever stemmed from being owed money by other people!!

I have no issue with DCBL as a sponsor. I wonder if there would be the same reaction if DCBL were prepared to sponsor the Club, say £1m plus a year?  It is a legitimate business, whether or not you agree that collecting debts is a good or a bad thing. Maybe if you were the company or individual owed the money, you may take a different view.

On the question of the Academy/Pathway development, maybe Chris Hamilton should issue a statement clarifying the plans.

I wasn't at the meeting, but if anyone disagreed with a statement or had a contrary view, I presume that they had the opportunity to state their views.
