Wire signed Harrison from Featherstone another Championship prop, but he’s just done his ACL last week and had surgery. I hope we have signed Dupree, Oldham look certain to go down so he can stay in the Championship if he signs fir us. His displays could attract a SL side however. I guess it depends what kind of job he has?

There are a growing number of players in the championship who could do a job in super league Say you can earn £28000 in your day Job and get another £25000 from a championship team, you are in the mid 50″s money wise, so there are several dozen high quality players who are frozen out of super league We have a few in our backs at widnes who could equally do a job in super league

Who are these SL quality backs we have?

Deon Cross is the only one but is not proven yet.

Who are the ‘SL class’ backs in SL atm? There seems to a lack of class backs in the game. The NRL also seems to lack backs of the Lockyer, Inglis, Slater, class these days.

There are a stack of really good up-and-coming 3/4s players for the Aussies, in addition to the likes of Mitchell and Turbo who are early 20s. They do look a bit thin in the halves to me though.

Is the way backs are being used to drive up the ball, effectively doing the work of forwards, leading to the perception that the backs are less classy than in the past?

Watched some old SL/pre SL matches on SKY over the last 18 months or so, what was most noticeable was the depth from which attacking play happened and that the ball was passed around more accurately...are we playing a style of Rugby en masse which encourages flat attacks and the battle of size over skill?

The change from scrums will have changed attacking patterns maybe. Next year, Covid permitting, we should be back on track.

Hope that we will see big, nasty prop forwards again at Widnes. They add a lot to the game, including a few tasty punch-ups (although that’s not to everyones taste in this enlightened age)

It's old hat now the 'biff'.Of its time. The game has moved on thankfully.Watching old videos showing punch ups and brawls just looks unsightly and a bit cringe to me.

I'm the opposite, love a good punch up maybe not politically correct or whatever these days, but gets the crowd and the atmosphere going. Shame its a red card these days and not a yellow as you still get all the players running in, but now they just end up pushing each other instead.
