Chris Hamilton saying we will be trying to improve on and off the pitch to get into SL, we’re not jus settling for being competitive in the championship . Going to be news in the next week or two about a academy side
Championship clubs against having one division, going to find out by next week. The 1895 cup could change and played preseason. Season tickets for adult and child free, but will have 2 barcodes on and the child has to go in first as last season adults were coming on their own.
More player announcements to come. He wants a 25 man squad. Thinks he can improve Lyons. He said he watched us last year, thought we had some good players but we had a soft underbelly and if teams got into us early we would fold. Thinks Lloyd will play in the second row, he will take the ball up all match, and he would have got a testimonial if he’d stayed at Swinton next year, but wanted to come to Widnes .
He wants players that will work hard for the whole of the match, not just play when they feel like. He thinks we will finish in top 5, doesn’t want players in their early to mid 30’s from SL (Amor, Dudson?).
We’ve got a very good young physio, who we will announce at the weekend. Changing training to Tuesday Thursday and Saturday, said training on a Monday after a hard match the previous day was a waste of time.
Sounds positive, hopefully stays positive and can actually build something this season and put some good performances in! Can’t wait for next season already 😂
No news on new players
I know people like these events, but I don’t see too much point in them.
I’m not too interested in words now, the club has got to deliver on and off the field. All well and good saying the right things, but it’s about time something was actually delivered
Think from what James and others posted their is alot of positivity particularly on the back of what Coleman said ..n fairplay to Hamilton with his comeback on the wages offered to leaving players ..."says more about the player than the wages ..none have moved upwards"
Be interesting what announcement comes regarding the academy
But like others have said it's time to back up the words with actions
@cumbria-viking any level of academy is better than nothing and hopefully local businesses will get behind it and sponsor them l, what would a basic academy cost? 50k a year. 20 sponsors at 2.5k
@mckviking completely agree..think we can all agree should never have lost it in first place but circumstances at the time dictated it.. certainly be a positive step forward
@viking25 gotta give them some credit mate. people moan when they don’t say anything people moan when they do, the clubs gotta do something and this is obviously the best option as people have been asking for a members Monday for months.
Cheap shot,no need.Say what you like about those players but they've given more to this club than someone who has been here 5 minutes and never laced a boot.fairplay to Hamilton with his comeback on the wages offered to leaving players ..."says more about the player than the wages ..none have moved upwards"
Could be seen as a cheap shot, could be just seen as a fact .. ultimately some of those that left were offered new contracts n turned them down for an extra year at Oldham.. and therefore didn't move up ...
@sinbad let’s be honest they’ve not given much to the club? They’ve taken a nice wage and done fudge all if we all preformed the way they have in recent years I assume we’d all be sacked from are jobs. They stole a living for years.
@johng I know and fair play to those that went.
But, it’s very easy to say we’re an ambitious club. Have we seen anything recently to back that up?
