"Very poor snide remark that will come back and bite him about lads leaving."

I'm still waiting for Phil Cantillon to come back and bite us.

Farnworth and Craven spend more time in the stands than on the pitch....not their fault but it is a cut throat business and they dont offer value for money. As for Lawton he could have been a world beater. There aren't many in the game who have his size and handling skills but he has never looked interested in giving his best consistently. Numerous coaches here and at other clubs couldnt get him to perform at a high level for long enough.

I dont blame them for leaving if they were offered a longer deal at Oldham as they have families to support but people talk as if we have lost a Myler and Sorensen and not players who havent exactly stood out in the worst Widnes teams of recent memory

.........and before anybody asks, No I have not played at any real level and they are all better than me BUT not good enough to get us where we want to be as the lsst few years have proven.

Im talking about his snide comment biting him, It was uncalled for. Not the players haunting us.

To be fair, Cantillon did come back to haunt us in 2006; when Rochdale came down to the AutoQuest and caused an upset.

You don't have to play to notice a good, average or poor player. The best managers were not all great players. Top players been managers look at Neville, Keane, Souness and Gerrard trying management. It is a brutal sport and I preferred playing football, but it is cut throat and as fans you look for the best value on the budget you have mate. Lawton 30 years of age and probably only play another 3 years and retire from the game, do I understand him getting the best deal for him and his family. As fans we want results and doesn't matter where the player is from and I hate this sympathy for Widlads. I am a Widnes lad and was fast, but very average at rugby. 😂👍

I agree that the remark from Hamilton about the departing players was totally uncalled for. The simple truth is probably that Oldham made a better contract offer than Widnes and they took it. They may well also have been sold on plans at Oldham to achieve success at the Club in the short and long-term, over what looks like mid-table mediocrity at Widnes.

At the moment, Oldham seem to be building a better squad than Widnes, which they didn't do under Hamilton. Maybe that says something about him. Whether they achieve success, only time will tell, but Oldham fans are probably currently more optimistic for the future than Widnes fans.

Was Hamilton still at Oldham when the new regime took over ?
they are a totally different outfit now, money coming in, playing at boundary park - I bet their IMG rating will soar !
