@prisoner Like I've said before, it's not for me to tell you or anyone whether to attend games or not, that's your call. All I'm saying is that if you are not enjoying what's on offer, for whatever reason, why put yourselves through it, because I wouldn't.

@vikingfox71 we could sign king Kong (on a very low wage of course as that's all we can afford) and he'd still play gregson at 13 first ...either he's the gaffers secret love child or he's got dirt on the boss (joke) ...we could all name 5 players that would be more effective than him....I'm just assuming as we're so poor he's being paid in haribo so got new deal .
@cumbria-viking your just being silly now if we signed King Kong I'd have him in the centre !! 😂
It's not for you but you keep doing it, dine at another restaurant was your latest. Is this mirroring the clubs attitude towards fans. You might upset and get rid of more fans if you post on social media, just a thought.@prisoner Like I've said before, it's not for me to tell you or anyone whether to attend games or not, that's your call. Putting a ‘serious’ bid in for SL, all the while, the club is giving out new 2 year deals to Lyons et al… something not adding up there Mr Chairman.
@cumbria-viking oh yes damn !!! Schoolboy error
I thought Lyons was playing well at the start of the season. Then he got injured and never seemed to come back from it properly, or with any form.
To be honest alot will depend on the 3rd half that is hinted in the article ....while some may hope for a Joe mellor level I'd be more expectant of a Lewis else level player .....
@cumbria-viking Joe Mellor was a really good half back for us, but that was 7 years ago now. Nothing against him at all and think he's been a good player. But a running stand off at thevage of 35, I hope we dont sign him unless as an attack coach to play in an emergency.
Joe Lyons is about to turn 28, I think people think of him as younger as he's always been a back up option to 2 other half backs. The fact he has signed a new deal and a 2 year one at that is a worry for me. We have just finished 7th. I like him and he's a good player but not a top 4 Championship player
If we are 6th or 7th best spending in the Championship, we have basically come where we have spent. What I do not understand is why we have applied for Super League if we are 6th or 7th best spending in the Championship, against clubs with poorer fan bases? Why wont these so called investors invest in the Championship, because you have to be knocking on the door as one of the best in the Championship to have a chance in Super League? Nothing really adds up and the club need to be more upfront and attract more WVIPS members, and by speculating to accumulate with better players will bring more through the gates. The loan and dual registration did not work with Warrington so we need to be more savvy with it this time. Why we buying loads of loose forwards like Hall when we need a few big props? JJ and Fozard are our better players and we need them on the pitch for longer. The team recruitment just seems in balanced at times and I also understand some players probably want silly money to play but sometimes need to spend on quality especially at halfback, hooker, fullback and centre positions.
We need more investment and the club need more WVIPS and entice season ticket holders to carry on paying by looking to compete at least in the top 3 clubs. Well Bradford, London and York are probably 2 teams above us who spend more and now we should compete more for players.
@dan1 as much as I'd like Joe mellor to come back it does look financially unrealistic by other comments on this board ....I think he'd add plenty...he's proven even now he's still as fit as a butchers dog....he's always added that running threat and eye for a gap ... something our halves this season just flatly refuse to do with the exception of Roberts ....mellor will take a defensive line on ..won't receive a ball and just stand still and hurl it to avoid contact ..bags of experience and top organiser/leader ....but like I say unlikely money will be there anyway ....more likely bring in someone as an understudy to Joe n Gilly ....again that will emphasise a pure lack of ambition...
In the grand scheme of things Lyons is a steady retention. Two teams are leaving the Championship next year, meaning there's going to be 50+ players leaving the competition. The standard of the Championship next year is going to be dire. I'm sure Gilmore and Lyons could navigate Widnes to a top four finish.
That is something we have to remember m, the championship will be of a lower standard moving forward so we should be top 3 but who’s going to spend £25 to watch rochdale, goole Vikings
Wonderful isnt it ? The standard is going to be lower so Widnes don't need to improve. That's what you call ambition.Stand still and let the level find you.
