@richard-richard

Great to hear - I give him a standing ovation at the end of games most weeks.  As I say, we could do with half a dozen of him!

Only Widnes would sign a player who isn't available for all games.If you are going to make an exception then the player in question would have to be something special.Grady, for all his efforts, doesn't fit into that category.

It is ridiculous to sign a player who is only available for a handful of games, especially for the last few seasons. We need players regularly on the pitch. It is like too many wingers signed when really could utilise the money on a number 6 or a big prop to do some damage. The other thing that annoys me JJ playing 13 when he would be better used as an interchange 9 with Fozard. The other bright idea is having a coach who constantly plays back rowers at prop? Basically the recruitment and ideas are wasted every year, and the big reason attendances are dropping. The club need to start listening to fans, otherwise nobody will be going to the games except the die hards. 🙈

Something that’s not been mentioned is leadership on the pitch I don’t think we’ve had a respected captain since Mark Smith

We weren't that short in the front row at the start of the season.

We had Farnworth, Amor, Field, Hatton, Tilleke, Walker.  Plus Josh Johnson went only just before the start of the season.  Most clubs roll with 6 middles, especially part time ones. We've had bad injuries to Gilmore, Bent, Brookes, Roberts, Craven, Miller - Amor leaving.  It's not helped us develop some continuity in our play.  Had some strange selections though (JJ at 13 baffles me).

We have a squad of 25, an imbalanced squad at that - and it's starting to take it's toll.  I don't think Kear is a very technical coach and his ability to motivate players can only go so far.  We need to either recruit 3 or 4 new players to try and salvage the season or we aim to link in with a Super League club to help us at the very least when the reserves aren't playing a game.  We need at least 2 middles, a centre, and a half back very quickly.

To have any chance of a top 4 finish we need to beat Haven, Barrow and Swinton over the next 3 weeks before going to Toulouse.   The current situation isn't good enough for this club and if we start to accept the position we're in we're as good as done.

Viking Man I agree I was appalled at the performance at the weekend and we should be winning games like this at home. We have mentioned the prop and half back situation and go and sign back rowers. 🙈 Grady is fit but decide to sign him even though can't play due to work commitments. If this carries nobody will be going to the games.

I’m glad we kept Grady as for me he’s been a solid performer every time he plays, with regards to the current squad I’d put this season’s performances down to inconsistency from the leadership group (Owens,Craven, Amor), injuries in key positions (Gilmore) players released and not replaced and now Amor retires.

we need to be making big changes next season otherwise the fans won’t turn up simple as that. Kear has steadied the ship but a coach with ambition for widnes is needed, we have to have an aim of a hybrid squad 50/50 PT/FT and then after a season or two reintroduction of the academy and we should be good for IMG grading

'Kear has steadied the ship' - in what way?

Same old same old, the same shi te every season

Imo, he's no better than the last clown Finnegan. The leadership at the club is shocking, there's only one way WV are heading unfortunately, into oblivion.

Under Kear we don't get beaten by as many points as we did under Finnegan.I suppose that's progress of some sort.
