I wonder if there was a similar fan meltdown on the Toulouse message board, last week?

Granted, we have lost 2 decent props and a centre that would probably never made the 17 (unless of injuries). It's frustrating, but where are this plethora of prop forwards hiding? I'm sure if any decent ones are available, the club would have tried to get them in. I think a point a lot have maybe missed is that our two tackling machines, Grady & Bent were both missing, for various reasons. The amount of 'offloads' the LB pack were getting out was the most I've seen from any team for a long time. The tone was set by LB in the first 15 mins, from when Welly banged JJ onto his arse, yeah, that Welly, it was always going to be a tough afternoon. Their pack was massive, and only Farnzy could really hold his own against them.

Anyway, see you at Whitehaven, God willing.

Paulie xx

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

If there was a 'meltdown' on the Toulouse forum I would only understand sacre bleu.

First home game attendance 3400 followed by 3100.Down to 2500 yesterday.Even Leeds,Saints and Wigan would be concerned about losing 900 fans in the space of 4 months.

JK doesn't play a prop when we are short of them instead he puts a centre as sub because he doesn't want to drop players incase he upsets the applecart and the holiday club culture. He really needs to go.

Why sign up a player you don't rate ? Unless of course he wasn't Kear's choice.Give Tilleke a game or let him go instead of putting the lad in limbo land.

What I can't understand why we sign so many wingers in our squad? This money could have gone on a prop and a halfback. 🙈 Plus why is JJ playing 13 when better at 9. Rather another busting forward or tackler at 13.

@pascal 👍 we have 5 wingers probably only need 4. We did sign props and a Halfback, problem we got injuries to Gilmore and now craven for rest of the season. We released 1 and another prop retired. We didn’t replace the players and now we are lacking up front and only have 1 decent half to lead us

I believe kear has steadied the ship but next season a coach with ambition and need to go big next season with at least 12 in (6 full time) and 10 out. I’d say holroyd, Lyons, brooks, tilleke, bent, craven, davies, and a few that sadly could request to leave maybe Farnworth/Walker/Fleming

widnes won’t get promoted again unless we have at least a hybrid squad 50/50 PT/FT and IMG grading to grant us another license to super league

Yeah probably 4 wingers rather than 5 just in case of injuries. But wingers I feel easier to get on loan from Superleague than piviotal positions? Craven been biscuit for a few seasons and Lyons never been that good. Gilmore did have a history of injuries until went to Batley. So for me next year 2 new halfbacks for starters. Grady i don't understand as he seems to be good when plays, but rarely playing? I was saying to my mate yesterday I feel we are not that far off being a top 4 side if recruit wisely. The loss of fans is due to poor performances and we need the buzz back with playing good rugby.

Pascal, in my opinion, you are correct in what you say.

Regarding recruitment, I am beginning to think that we have been sold a bag full of white lies . We were told in the off season that we had money for players and even though many people on here , myself included) were crying out for good solid props to give us a platform to work from , but we started the season short of front rowers.

With the combination of players leaving and injuries , we have been left under manned. With us being told there was money available for signings and money freed up from players who had left, I have been waiting with baited breath for signings to be announced.

I do not think we are too far off in the backs and quality replacements for a couple of players past their best before date and we will look good.

Though this is now Kear's squad , and his responsibility , I have to wonder just hat sort of budget he has had to work with and if we are short of cash, I would far sooner the club  told us that we have to manage with the squad we have, because at the moment it seems to me that our main ambition as a club is to be a solid mid table team spending just enough to keep us away from any relegation fight and looking at creeping into the playoffs as a bonus.

Club won't come out and tell us we are on our Jacksie, but its looking more and more obvious we are.

Fans are voting with their feet now, can't bame them

We are a mid to lower championship side making up the numbers, sad times i'm afraid

I am a big fan of Shane GRADY - at Championship level, he is one of the hardset forwards and always plays to his weight and above.  A very strong runner and a tackler, too.  However, his RL record speaks for itself in terms of appearances - just 89 in 15 seasons!  He had a very serious injury when he was with is in 2008, and it apperas to have restricted his appearances ever since, although I never liked him playing against us for HALIFAX because he was such a threat.

Highest number of games in a season was 20 of that 89 in 2021 - for Widnes!  I wish we had half a dozen of him, though - fully fit!

Did people think that our squad was capable of a top 6 finish?

The season's not over yet though. We might, we might not.

Erik the red unfortunately we have too many on the treatment table and if Grady was fit every week he would be in the starting 13  every week..Craven and Grady always not playing and hope we replace with similar calibre players. If Grady, Gilmore and Craven played every week I think we be talking top 3 now.
