@dan1

that’s really bad news, he has been really good for us - another season long loan gone wrong

It's not gone wrong really. He's played 10 games and been very good. He's Huddersfield's player. We were happy to loan out Kieran Taylor etc.

I think they need to stop posting season long loan unless no recall option like Sambou. Just say signed on loan. The Wire prop the other year was a season loan and played 1 game, Badrock last week is exactly the same 1 game and now in the Leigh squad.

They are clearly not season long loans if the SL club can recall as soon as they get an injury or the loan player plays well. Use the loan system by all means, but season long wording is the club shooting itself in the foot with the fans, especially these 1 game season loans!

@dan1 it's only us that says it's a season long loan Leigh never mentioned it !! And their fans correctly said he'd be back for them this week ,so why do we put ourselves in a situation where now the club look stupid stating things that aren't going too happen

although chairman did say south stand would be sorted last week !!! Still waiting for his appraisal on that joke , at least I don't need to worry this week lol 😂

On the assumption that all of our squad are fit to play and not just named to make up numbers, could I suggest the following matchday 17:-

Conell. Butt. Edge. Roberts, Ince. Richardson. Gilmore.

Murray. Johnstone. Chapelhow. S Wilde. Langtree. Hall.

Fozard. Houghton. N Wilde. Lawton.

No doubt AC will include Gregson though, probably instead of Lawton.

I'm omitting Taylor and Sergent as the game could get very "intense" and they are both rather inexperienced at present - although definately ones to keep for the future.

take gregson out and that’s our best team, but no doubt the boss will select his golden child

I would have Hall over Gregson i just do not rate Gregson, but i know Coleman loves him. Prefer Langtree over Roberts in the back row for his size, even though i like Roberts. But i see why you have Langtree on the bench, because we need size for interchanges then without Billington. I like 3 decent size subs with an interchange hooker.

Listened to most of the game on Merseyside, What a great performance from the team and left London hanging on in the end. Well done to Coleman and all the players involved.

What was the attendance, no doubt increased by the massive travelling support for the unbeaten league leaders?

I know this is a one-off game, but doesn't it show that a team like Widnes, with a proud history in the game and potential to attract decent crowds, deserves the opportunity to play in the top league. Maybe a reminder to the RFL that the game actually exists outside the so called Super League.

Maybe, we can improve on this performance and beat them in the 1895 final, if the game goes ahead.

Great performance lots of effort shame edge went off injured as they utilised their centres well

can't fault effort or spirit langtree stand out but also thought Richardson had his best game

That second half should give the team some belief in themselves for the final and if we get a ref who doesn’t let them get away with their forward pass shenanigans then we might even have a chance.

We played really well and losing edge after about 15 minutes.

The difference was the pass that Gilmore dropped about 15 meters out with a clear run to the line, then they went down the field and scored. A 12 point difference.

i was surprised they didn’t go away from us after they extended their lead with about 25 minutes left, like they have with every other team. but much to our credit we didn’t give up and kept pressing them and scored some good tries.

Thats the most points anyone has scored against them , including Bradford in the cup, and the closest score, in our division.

if we play like that in the final we must stand a chance of winning.

Fantastic effort. Gives us belief ahead of the final

For the love of god, give this coach some resources to work with.

Be a crying shame that, finally, after a few years of building we lose Owens, Gilmore and Lawton. Be a greater shame if we replace them with players from Rochdale and Swinton, as is the rumours.
