@mckviking A clear out is all well and good, but as people are saying it's not much use if the replacements are no better and are just cheaper, not the way to go imo.

@alanc

This system where clubs are bartering with and for next year's players for most of the season means that nobody has any sense of being a member of a club anymore.

It's all who will pay most etc - developing Championship players are targeted by SL clubs then loaned out to all and sundry - not good for the game.

@ditton-donkey we're going to do the same,things aren't looking too clever for sure, no actual club announcements yet but certainly lots of rumours of letting better players go than ones coming in.

We are currently 8th in the Championship, a few years ago people moaned about us being in 8th place in SL and not making the lower end of the play offs. Therefore I genuinely don't mind which players move on, we can't change the whole team as it's not practical, but we don't have say a Deon Cross that would make the step up to SL.

I'm not saying the players are all rubbish, we have some good Championship standard players, Fozzard being an example but I wouldn't feel really disappointed about anyone moving on. Players will always come and go, that's the nature of the game, especially now we don't have an academy so players aren't home grown.

It seems like we have gone from signing Oldhams players when they got relegated to them signing our players for a League 1 promotion push next season.

On a final note, the 2 SL signings we made for this year turned out to be 2 of the most disappointing, as was Josh Johnson who we signed from Salford last year and is now at Oldham. Johnstone, Johnson and Amour all didn't work out so recruitment isn't easy.

I think this is a fair reflection on the general mood about the club from the fanbase.  We've been on a downward spiral since we dropped out of SL and it's been very difficult to get excited about games for a long time.  I'd say only the Halifax at home game this year I've walked out the ground feeling really entertained.

The downward trajectory continues, relegated, administration, ditch the academy, sack coaches, employ coaches from teams in the bottom 2 of the league.... I've said before Sheffield and Batley aren't splashing the cash but they've been punching above their weight more than we have recently.  We have a good ground, better attendances, a fan led player fund and we still can't get the right team on the field whilst others with much less than us do better on the field.

Recruitment is key, and it's getting increasingly harder to bring good players in when we continue to under perform each year.  On the current players, losing Lawton isn't a positive step forward and if rumours are replacing them with Swinton players then we'll be down where they are next season.

@mckviking We are not replacing with better quality though. Players from Swinton  & possibly Barrow on the whole will be inferior to what we already have.

We need to be going for someone like Hampshire at Wigan who has hardly played this season. Depends though if he wants to come of course.

@geoffw

A hard ask for a FT player to decide to opt out to PT.

If you look at our likely player losses they are mostly nearing the point in their lives where they would be offloaded even if we got through to SL, simply by their ages and having full time jobs that they probably wouldn't want to lose.

The division between full time and part time must play havoc with a lad's brain if he has a partner and maybe a kid or two.

Can't help but laughing when you remember the posts on here pointing the finger at 'bogey men' who have ruined the club from SOC and Rule, then Finney (no mention of the good youngsters that he passed through our ranks),etc . Now CH is the bogey man doing, presumably, the Board's bidding!

Hopefully all will be revealed soon, so I can sleep at nights!!!!!!

Have to agree with Dan.We are in 8th place in the second division yet some fans are concerned about players leaving.

Man comes in from Oldham

Our better players (arguably) all of a sudden are moved on to Oldham

Anyone smelling a rat, or is it just me?

@sandgroper to be fair, those pointing the finger at SOC and Rule were spot on, they did ruin the club and leave us on the verge of bankruptcy.

Interesting theory on "agent" Hamilton from Paulie. He leaves Oldham to take a job with us, a number of our players sign for Oldham, he then goes back to them. I have no idea if it's true or not, it probably isn't, but as conspiracy theories go it's a good one!
