So it appears that Stuart Littler will be the next one in the hot seat. I don't know enough about him to form an educated opinion and for me, that is the problem.
We have had revolving door of managers since 2019 and every new appointment bar from Sheens, had very little success in their previous job.
Purtil - Finished outside the play-offs with Leigh
Finnigan- Failed to get a well-fancied Newcastle team promotion from League 1
Kear - Was hounded out by Bradford fans
Littler - Current 4th with Oldham in league 1?
Our only two successful managers at this level - Neil Kelly and Steve McCormack. Neil won the league with Dewsbury and Steve took Whitehaven to two consecutive grand finals.
Is there any wonder we are in this mess?
Agreed. We just sleepwalk from one disaster in to another.
Is Stuart littler the favourite now then?
His win ratio is awful at the clubs he has coached. Wish we knew who was interested in the job, and what money they wanted too. Hope whoever gets the job is successful though. 👍🥖🥖💪
Where has it come from that we are getting Littler? I was against us appointing Kear, but after his good start I warmed to him. But then he had to go as the players stopped playing for him and we went on an abysmal run.
Litters coaching record on Wikipedia, Swinton 2017 - 2021 played 60, won 10, lost 41, drawn 2. Win ratio 17%.
Oldham 2021 - current, no list of games won/lost but Oldham are currently 5th place in a 10 team league, the only what you would call traditional RL team below them are Rochdale.
Hamilton is ex Oldham and now head of operations at Widnes, but other than that link I don't understand why he is being considered for the job?
Oldham seem to have big plans l, who are they bringing in?
It seems that Hamilton is running the club like the 'Oldham Model' so expect the worst. Red and white hooped shirts next season. The Club is beyond f^cked off the pitch.
Paulie xx
Controversial opinion but neither Kelly nor McCormack deserved to be sacked when they left the club imo. The latter in particular was a knee jerk reaction to losing the opening game of the season as a direct result of a senseless red card.

.........
As requested by alanC and Dan1, where does your information come from?

Kelly didn’t deserve to sacked and neither McCormack, years later Steve’s job with us looks better and better.
Betts didn’t deserve to be sacked. 75% of this board wanted Betts out when he was delivering us a decent team challenging for the plays offs. Feels like a lifetime ago now.
There isn’t a rugby justification for it. He’s done nothing in his coaching career to earn the job of coaching the second biggest club in the Championship.
I’m not sure how, but the board have to step in and change something before the club finally goes

Who is the standard of candidate you would be hoping for?
The fact that Littler is apparently in the queue would indicate that he is working his notice, just as Oldham are making a real effort. Never rated him as a player ( and his coaching career follows it ), or Rowley (after his cowardly attack on Mark Smith).
I can understand it if Belshaw doesn't want to swap a teaching contract (and pension) just for a off chance as a coach. As a continuing Assistant Coach he sounds a likely option.
Cullen was successful because he followed SOC's direction and simply went for the NRC - that's what the SL challenge was! Many didn't like it but you have to follow the competition rules!
Our annual mid season removal of the coach can't be an attractive advert!
Of those mentioned (if it has any legs at all!) I would go for Betts as likely to be the most professional and worthy of SL ( based on his playing career). Again bearing in mind the need to follow the IMG edict.
@gpo1971 - Someone who has achieved something worthwhile at at least one of the clubs he has coached? If we can’t tick that box we might as well give Neil Belshaw a chance.
Never thought I’d say this but the return of Betts looks like the best ‘Option’….Beggers can’t be choosers I’m afraid going by the candidate’s rumoured to have applied.
Jesus people need to get a grip....all fine n we'll quoting his win percentage but he's only been at Swinton n Oldham...two pee poor clubs with tiny budgets (up until ford consortium at Oldham)....maybe he'll do a good job with better players at his disposal....maybe he won't but fgs give the guy a chance before ye slaughter him....we've had 6 previous coaches who've been on alot more than he will be n they've turned out well ain't they 👀....lingard going into batley...Eccles into London ..peet in at Wigan...3appointments that fans werent happy with at the time ....how've they done ??..let's just see if it's him first..see what kinda player he recruits n judge him on results etc n not on if he's fashionable ....
