Roby is a decent option tbf, always quite liked him-not a bad squad option at all.

Maybe suggests if we are getting DR from them lot down the road, won't necessarily be outside backs?

I thought he was a decent player at Widnes, but he never really got enough game time with certain coaches. Got an ACL injury and was on a 2 year contract at Keighley. So i presume something changed for him not to see it out.

Roby definitely adds competition for places. I think we’ll rely heavily on wire for forwards when injuries occur. I hope to see a hard working team next season and hopefully get to make the playoffs. The fact we haven’t made the playoffs since relegation is a huge failure for a club of our fan base and facilities.

@prisoner yeah. Cas fans didn’t seem to rate him when he went there too.

He played 8 games, of which they won one. Hardly Steve McQueen in The Great Escape.

A huge improvement will be required if he is to be anywhere near the player that people believe he is.

Roby a good signing for me, I get he maybe adds competition rather than walks into the team, but he was playing well before the injury, he could kick on and reach the potential we have seen. I think he has played in the halves as a youngster, so maybe adds a bit of cover there, I would prefer and out and out 6/7 though.

Good player at this level. In fact I would argue he was playing as well as anyone in the side before succumbing to serious injury ended his last season with us.

I do think we again have an unbalance within the squad when you look at how many outside backs we have compared to the number of forwards and halves though.

Just watched our game against Dewsbury with Lyons and Roby in the team - some sharp inter-passing from both tbh.

You can never be certain to have the cover that you need, just do the best that you can. I always think back to a 19 years old Jonathon Thurston having both shoulders re-built in the same off season! So some would have said 'injury prone!' and not signed him !!!

And we are troubled about Langtree's op?

I think we would all be happier with another half back but apart from that I think 13 forwards to11 backs is not a bad split. We would all like a couple of classy players but we are where we are & will be better off with Warrington rather than Rochdale which was a really strange choice last season.

Well, given you would normally have 3 if not 4 forwards on the bench I personally still think the ratio isn’t ideal. But if we use the DR well enough hopefully it won’t present too much of a problem.

As I stated on here months ago, Lyons will be 6 this year. I'm not sure if he is the answer but I know that if he or Gilly is injured our season is done. A fill in is for a couple of games at most, not for a chunk of games.

I would have kept Joe but would have him as the back up, we need a running 6 and if we got one it would bring in the casual walk up fan.

My prediction is 9th this year.

Our season started to fade because of injuries to key players but it was the start of the discussion about who next year which disrupted the teams  unity with rumours about Oldham etc.

If we can maintain our team spirit we can do better. Maybe a new coach with a different spirit can do the trick!

Joe mellor at Leigh will now be surplus to their requirements - worth a go on season long loan ?

I think Leigh may still be dual registered with Rochdale carried on since last June when they must have dropped us. Although I knew nothing of this until I checked.

100%  the type of player to get seadon ticket sales, plus possibly more joining WVIPS 👌💪👍 We need 3 halfbacks in our squad.

Good shout, hopefully if the fans are thinking of him then the club should definitely be thinking of it! Just the run threat we need.
