If Johnstone is the best hooker in the competition then let's hope someone tells him and he actually shows it.

Agree JJ needs to kick on if he is going to make an impact in 2024. We didn't see the best of him in 2023, I am sure that was down to fitness/injury, which hopefully he has overcome. His strength when he was with us previously and then with Hull was being a bundle of energy, backing up making tackles, generally being a nuisance, we didn't see much of that last year! Lets hope he can get back to his previous form!

Given our limited halfback numbers, if we are not able to bring in a DR 6, or even better a season long loan, then it would make sense to look for cover from Fozard or JJ, when needed. No doubt the new coach will have his ideas!

Not sure why we would even consider playing JJ at 13 when we have only two hookers in the squad. Fozard and JJ interchanging at hooker with Gregson or Bent at 13 makes far more sense.

If JJ can find his mojo, it could have more impact than any of the new recruits.

Kear had a fixation of playing JJ at 13, it’s not something we should ever repeat.

Sincerely hope that he can recapture some old form as in my opinion he looked unfit when he was here last year.

A new signing at 7-00 tonight, a returning player. There’s a picture clue on x, but don’t know who it is.

Looking at our spend so far I'd definitely say Roby aswel as think he'd be alot cheaper than likes of Brad walker for instance

Why would we sign Roby we’ve got owens, edge, Dixon and even Fleming who can all play fullback and if all them 4 are fit and playing where would roby slot into the team? Think money could be spent better elsewhere

@johng I agree but guess he covers numerous positions is the clubs thinking ..can play wing..centre ..fullback and if needs must in the halves ... personally of all reasonably recent ex players I'd have hoped for Brad walker or big Wellington..

Correct Is this the same JJ who helped a SL club stay up yet some don't rate him ?.

If it’s roby again it’s just another ok signing won’t let you down but the quality is building in this league, all sides work hard that isn’t a usp, we are lacking the odd signing with a bit of class think we are just going to be again left behind when sides are hitting there peak in the season

Owens or Roby to play a bit of 6?

Not in favour of it at all, but other than that I can’t see why we would sign another outside back. 2 full backs, 4 wingers and 3 centres in a small squad is way too many.
