A win is a win but thought we was poor throughout most of the game tho we seem to drop to the level of the teams below us and the games always closer than it should be IMO, another shite performance from the Ref tho, do we play offside anymore?
However 5 wins on the spin is good going so hopefully we can continue the streak
I could still not make it to the game today but listened to Merseyside commentary. Seemed to me we were mighty lucky the referee disallowed 2 of their tries one which the commentators could not explain the other being a forward pass.
Our goal kicking was dire today. Connell seemed to be the difference. I know they had 4 Leeds loanees & we lost Chapelhow for 10 minutes. Our discipline seemed bad & far too many mistakes holding us back. Is making 3 changes at once too big a disruption to the team because it seemed to affect us. Lawton never given the ball near the line.
A win is a win but unless their loanees were top drawer should we have struggled so much today against a team not expected to finish in the top 10 placings?
Anyone hear the attendance?
I agree it was was a disappointing team performance by us despite good showings by Johnstone and Connell, and the referee was poor for both sides.
Even Abdull's goal kicking was off - we could have had at least 20 more points on the board if his kicks were up to his normal standards.
Didn't hear the attendance figure but from my seat it looked about the same as last week.
Fat finger problems - sorry, it should have been 10 more points from our usually reliable kicker
Not sure why it’s on the feed 4 times! apologies
All round bad day at the office. Our exchange 'middles' were non-effective, Abdull's defence was left wanting. But you can't always play well, and getting the win was a bonus that didn't look likely on 65 mins. Hunslet had a good 'dig' and were better than I thought.
Up the Chemical Vikings!
Paulie xx
Need to practise goal-kicking before the next match!
When we passed it round we looked dangerous a bit like last week.
Defence isn't great- 50 points in the last 2 games despite two wins- this is in stark contrast to the lack of points conceded at Workington and Oldham.
Connell and Sambou looked dangerous throughout.
Thought we were poor today, lots of silly mistakes, their first 3 tries came from us giving them the ball. Then every time we went ahead we would make another mistake and gift them a try.
Not sure why their length of the field try was disallowed, but it was the touch judge who disallowed it, and none of the Hunslet players seemed to be upset with the decision. Abdull had his worst game since signing.
Luckily Connell played really well and won it for us and Chapelhow , Sambou , Langtree and JJ played quite well.
It’s going to be interesting to see who Coleman picks for the Doncaster match, as everyone should be fit, including Wilde
There should be quite a few of those who played today, who will be anxious about wether they will get picked
I could still not make it to the game today but listened to Merseyside commentary.
If there was a game to miss, this wasn't a bad one. You would have had a female Hunslet fan behind you who had interesting takes on every tackle, for the full eighty minutes at always at a decent volume. To be fair I think she's probably just come off duty in the Air Force as she could see foward passes, offsides and every other decision from 100 yards. I'm just booking in to the tinnitus clinic for tomorrow.
Very poor performance, got out of jail really, referee needs to look up the offside law
we knew battye would be good, so close him down and don’t give them so much space when attacking
but it is still a win so take it - but Donny away will need a massive improvement
Not going to comment on games I can’t see anymore only by commentary but we didn’t sound great.
feel like hunslet were our bogey team last year, always a close game when putting the squads together we should blow them away. Always reminds me of the 2011 game where they beat us 18-10 at we had 10X a better squad.
these games happen, we only just beat hunslet, who lost to Salford, who were battered by worky, who lost to us 🤷🏻♂️
5 wins in a row and maintaining second place is all that’s important.
also games not on YouTube Premium yet 👀👀
Very lethargic performance we looked tired I thought but we did start with a small pack foz,jj and roberts maybe could have started Lawton ?
we managed a win but we have struggled against the lower teams and we gifted another 18 points again this week
crowd lethargic as well hopefully just a "off day"
but 2200 when we have won 5 on run is poor
It was a decent watch, Hunslet made it a good end to end game.
But from a Widnes perspective, we should be better than that. Sloppy passes, poor kicking, terrible defence.
I don't know why their interception try was disallowed but that was the game-changer really. If that had have stood, we'd have struggled to get back.
The ref wasn't getting either side back 10 but Hunslet exploited it a bit more than us.
Best players were Connell, Chapelhow, Roberts for me, both wingers were also good. Wasn't a classic from the half backs and Foz wasn't his usual self.
Still, 2 points, I'll take the current league table any day of the week.
Where were mcwhirter ( on my starting list every time ) and gregson - who has played really well in the last 2 games ?
Reckon we missed them along with edge of course
McWhirter went off injured against Goole, ankle I think.
