@sinbad The fact is we have lost more games than we have won and have a poor home record, that's the only facts that matter. Our coach is pants and we all know that.

@pascal Here’s an idea Pascal, why don’t we protest outside the stadium next home game and demand we sell the club to a rich backer, sounds like a brilliant idea doesn’t it.

Your a 🤡 all I said the club need to go out and look for investment rather than sit on its arse. Things don't come to you in life if want success at least try and send loads of emails to companies or be pro active and go to the companies face to face. It just seems they want to just survive when everyone else is spending. Even small club Sheffield spending loads. It just a status on the board to be honest and as I say sitting on the fence plodding along doesn't entice fans. The attendances show this you.🤡

Firstly we need to be more honest about the phrases we use here. We are not looking for “investment” we are more realistically looking for “donations”. Investment comes with the clear idea of a business opportunity with profitable return. I think we can all agree that a mid table Championship RL club with poor infrastructure and gates of around 2500 is not a viable business proposition. We are actually looking for a benefactor. And that’s the situation that our club finds itself in - dwindling crowds, reduced status, very little hope of any type of dramatic upswing and every chance that the downward spiral will continue. I would doubt very much that those who work at the club with a vested interest in its future are “sitting on their arse” but due to the reasons I’ve outlined bringing in any level of substantial financial support for a semi pro sports team whose own fans appear apathetic is difficult work. You talk about “enticing” fans but this is the ultimate ‘chicken and egg’ conundrum: does the onus lie with the club to risk bringing in players they can’t afford to attract fans or should fans show up in greater numbers so that the club can afford better players? With a crowd of 2500 for a fixture against one of the divisions better sides would you put your money where your mouth is?

Same here, that’s why I’m not critical of the club’s fundraising efforts. They are looking for their own ‘Euro Lottery’ type miracle - a Widnes fan able and willing to put substantial, game changing amounts into the club for the long term with no ties. A benevolent multi millionaire willing to lose cash in order for the club to survive and thrive. Until that miracle happens the club’s commercial personnel are committed to the daily grind of pursuing local businesses for as much promotional revenue as they can squeeze out of them. It’s a very tough job, and when they see fans like you saying they “sit on their arse” and bring into doubt their effort and commitment then it’s no wonder they become even further demoralised. You then go on to make a single sentence post just abusing the club and making it clear that you feel everything attached to it is worthless. If I felt that level of contempt towards anything I’d leave well alone. As for me, while I’m disappointed by our current standing I’m sympathetic towards our reduced circumstances and fully understand the difficulties behind the scenes. I’ll do my bit, pay for my weekly ticket, go to a few away days…and keep hoping for that miracle.

The last thing the Club needs at the minute is a 'fractured fanbase'. RL is going through a tough time below about 5 or 6 Clubs in SL. We're even in a better place than Salford! This is a messageboard that reflects the opinion of about 30 people, I'd say that 50% of them don't go the match, but are happy to judge on the Radio commentary or the 3 minute YouTube reel. That's fine, it's your opinion, but as I read through this thread, I'm sensing toxicity creeping in, people being called Clowns etc. Is it passion or is it just disrespect to fellow Board users?

Deep down we all want the Club at 1989 levels, but the reality is, RL has moved on, and our 'shafting' in 1995 has nigh on killed us. We are technically a 6 year old RL Club, started from scratch by a group of fans. Let's show a little respect to those people for giving us something to moan about. It's not an easy fix, but deep down, you all know that.

Feel free to give me abuse.

This is where I disagree with you the advertising is terrible you would not know a game was taking place in the Town centre as nothing on show. Andy Horabin has recently joined the board and done more than Matt Taylor already. He has gone to local businesses and for your information I don't live close to the Town either. I don't doubt they are trying but could do more as Andy Horabin has just proved my point lately. Too many goody shoes club do no wrong and everything is perfect. Even James Gordon has offered his services and club fucked him off. So my point is the club can do more and I stick to my guns. Yes some things they have done great, but also things can be improved rather than say they are doing a brilliant job. I am sure Alan Sugar would find holes in the club. There is positives and negatives in life always and if we are one of the worse spenders in the league with better crowds it shows the other clubs are doing something better than us.

Paulie I agree with you and I am just criticising because I just think they could do a little more mate. I am passionate and worry the fan base will get lower if do not improve the squad and team. We need more fans and success helps and just being proactive may get a few extra interested. . I have just mentioned what a great job Andy Horabin has done meeting Business people is a start. 👍 By the way I live far away and also do WVIPS and bought a few Child Season Pass it on scheme. Bought merchandise so I should be able to voice my opinion good and bad, but I just want the best for the club overall.

Great Dane don't take it personal i partly agree with you, and I know the board are doing there best. I just think a little more proactive could be done, which Andy Horabin has proved already in a short space of time. I do WVIPS, go games and bought a few Child Pass it on schemes. Bought merchandise and do everything I can living far away from the Town.

Great Dane I don't want to see the fan base go to 1800 average and we start struggling to buy a decent squad mate. It can spiral down very fast. Anyway enjoy the weather 😎😂 Hopefully the club retract and let James Gordon help with his services. 👍

Pauline Walnut Whip I think people are frustrated so many teams who have a worse fan base are doing better than us. When i heard many teams doubling our wage offers it upsets me, especially when got WVIPS, Child Pass it on Scheme etc which has done poorly and makes me wonder are the club doing enough? Pascal has some good points especially seeing Andy Horabin being pro active seeing Business people. I know Matt Taylor a lovely lad and loves Widnes, but I can not see him approaching a strong business lady.

@pauliewalnuts To be fair the only judgement that matters is results. The club IMO is badly run this is why even diehards aren't buying season tickets anymore some choose their games and some have packed up altogether. If you attend a club function it is predominantly aging fans, unless the club address things then the future is bleak. All this fans buying junior season tickets is wotsits, they need to give free matchday tickets to kids, this is how I and lots of people I know became fans. As miss Houston said children are the future, more communication is needed from the club as promised from the board. There are alot of huge companies in Halton area which need to be approached for help.

It's good that fans moan or give constructive criticism. Its because they care, its when you stop that you have a problem. The age of the fan base has to be a cause for concern.

The sport as a whole is struggling, no doubt about that. But at Championship level its fair to say we are struggling against our key rivals. Poor IMG ranking, currently 9th place in a 13 team league. Small squad with a budget lower than 5/6 fellow Championship clubs as stated by our head coach. Those are all facts by the way not opinions.

Some good points raised, but re; the spend, we can only spend what we have, which is very little. York Fev Bradford Toulouse are spending big money in comparison, technically to be GF winners, as there are no certainties they'll be promoted.
