Post on twitter by Gregson describing how the coach told players to target his shoulder and a photo of a picture of him with a noose around around his neck in their dressing room! Disgraceful behaviour, and he now believes his season may be over.

Season definitely over for him and Langtree I assume the same thing was said about both. Typical Swinton tho cheap Scum, fans and club alike they’ll find there level in league one next year.
Shocking tactics . I’ve no doubt he will be reported to the RL. Not sure what kind of punishment he will receive if found guilty.
Bang out of order that and hope he recovers well. I slag players off but targeting is terrible sportsmanship with a noose around his neck. We look for weaknesses in a team like a player can't catch a ball, or a poor defensive player. This another level.
Their assistant coach) Darren Abraham who was standing at the back of the stand, near me, was shouting messages to the Swinton players, and shouted to the touch judge 3 times, by his first name , till he turned around, then shouted to him to have a word with Coleman, who had gone onto the touch line, to talk to one of the players and telling him it wasn’t allowed ,the touch judge then went and told Coleman off.
Then in the second half he ran down the steps in the stand onto the pitch, to have a word with one of the Swinton players.🙄
The club have responded to back Nick Gregson

It won’t give us the 2pts back but I hope they throw the book at them. You always look at teams strengths and weaknesses and build a game plan around this… but a noose??? Very, very poor sportsmanship.
@farnworth-viking I was also in the stand in the vicinity of the Swinton coaching staff, and would say that I have in almost 50 years of watching RL, have never seen such an unprofessional display of behaviour by a coach from the sidelines/stand. Does nothing to promote the club or the positive image of the club, and will do much reputational damage to that club, for whom I always had a soft spot after them almost going out of existence about 4 years ago, way beyond a short-term two points. I will post my thoughts on the game, and indeed Widnes Vikings' woes, later on.
Swinton are now denying it and have said they have contacted their solicitors and the RFL and won’t be commenting further They must have good solicitors working on a Sunday night🙄
I was sitting in the stand a few rows down from the Leigh coaching staff who were next to the DJ booth and was at a total loss as to why the staff at least half a dozen times shouted Gregson’s name in loud voices for at this stage Swinton had taken the lead .The disgraceful information that has come out clearly answers my question .
Hopefully the spectators on here will offer their names to the club as witnesses. The club shouldn't allow it to go unpunished, for the good of the game.
Couldn't make it yesterday, but looking at the injuries we suffered I can well believe that there was more than just tackling going on. The way referees allow working players on the floor is a blot on our game tbh and leads to what amounts to 'punishment' tackles to injure the tackled player.
If this is true, Swinton and their coach could be in a lot of trouble and the RFL might be the least of their worries. I hope we behave properly, and so far we have, but we don't need to say anything more now. Sandgroper is spot on, if anyone has any evidence or witnessed anything they should contact the club.
In the meantime, I hope Gregson recovers quickly, a difficult weekend for Widnes, but especially for him.
did not make the game yesterday but have read the comments here and on Twitter and it doesn’t sound good
i think we can all agree the noose picture is abhorrent and from what Lawton has posted it’s not the first time it’s been done
as for the “go for the shoulder” quotes
Was this when Swinton were attacking or defending or both?
in attack I could understand targeting the weaker shoulder to improve your chances of winning the collision.
if in defence that is tantamount to deliberately injuring a player and long bans are in order
be good to hear Spelly’s take on this
a Swinton lad through and through whose opinion on here is I think well respected
Swinton are now denying it and have said they have contacted their solicitors and the RFL and won’t be commenting further They must have good solicitors working on a Sunday night🙄
The Twitter photo is quite clear, unless it can be proven to be doctored.
It presumably has been taken by someone within the Swinton set-up and sent on to Gregson.
C’mon Spelly where are you? Hope he’s ok. Did anyone see him at the game?
I’d have thought he’d at least be celebrating the win on here and anm interested for his take on the Gregson/Lawton stuff.
