A squad filler I hope we play him this year and don't lose players like we did last year if you sign players actually use them

Hope he’s not like some of the players from last season, who didn’t want to stay and fight for a start, and left for a smaller club instead, and didn’t do much at their new club.

Weird when Warrington fans are commenting on the post saying how exciting he is and how we’ve got a good one.

As others have said let’s hope it’s not a waste of investment this time

Going back to the recruitment strategy another strange one signing 2 young wingers in the space of a few days.

You need 2 wingers to last the game so 3 in a squad is enough. You need 4 props per game, we currently have 3 in the squad, Bibby, Murray and Chapelhow. We can play Mcquirter in the front row, but he's built for the back row.

Ideally we should have 3 wingers and 6 props in a 26 man squad. But we currently have 4 wingers and 3 props with 1 more signing due to complete the squad.

Not having a go at either of these lads, they seem promising players, but with a limited budget, no reserves or academy to play them in and now not even a league 1 to send them out on loan to. The recruitment strategy I have mentioned previously again comes into question.

If we had a 30 man squad and a reserves to play them in like Warrington and Wigan then I'm all for it, but we haven't. If they don't get gametime we saw what happened last season.

The final signing now has to be a prop.

Perhaps Spelly will give his verdict on the lad as he played for Swinton last season.

4 wingers is not needed at this level, this position is easily filled by a loan deal, as mentioned above we are seriously lacking up front but as we all k ow AC will play Lawton, Bent and Ozzy Mac in front row and 2 of them are not built for this position

This questions Alan Coleman as the coach for me it is blatantly obvious need another big prop forward and 4 wingers is ridiculous. His next signing should have been a big prop then a utility backrower/centre. Regan Sumner, Cameron Brown and Adam Jones never really played so why we doing the same again? No offence to the lad and as someone mentioned Spelly probably the best person to comment. If no better than Butt, Ince or Connel then a waste of money because can get a winger on loan from Super league if 2 got injured.

I mean Connell is also a fullback by trade. No guarantee Maizen will play all season as he was injured a couple times from the start so always good to have competition for places

@begg I agree same mistakes as last season unless you actually play these lads they will leave

we don't seem to have a plan to recruiting we sign whoever's available or willing to come here

obviously Abdul our big signing the rest are pretty similar to previous seasons so obviously behind London and Oldham but this squad will struggle to beat Sheffield,Doncaster fax on a regular basis getting worried again not making top 4 is a disaster for us going forward

I am hopeful we have the fev prop in the bag, much needed

with regard to wingers we have 3 really as the other chap is probably fb cover, but the important thing is to actually give these players a game so they can show what they can do

like last season we released players without giving them a game !

@scouseviking55 We have 3 others, Owens a full back by trade, Edge started his career as a full back and Flemming has played full back a number of times. With Taylor signed at centre we now have 4 players competing for 2 centre spots so plenty of experienced full back cover.

We actually have 9 outside backs for 5 positions.

Maizen - Full back

Connell - Wing/full back

Ince- Wing

Butt - Wing

Owens - Centre/Fullback back

Edge - Centre/Fullback

Flemming- Centre/Fullback

Taylor  - Centre/2nd row (60 games at centre and 6 as a 2nd row for Crusaders)

Sergent- Wing

And then only 3 specialist props for 4 positions (2 starting and 2 bench) Murray, Bibby and Chapelhow. Mcquirter can fill in from 13, Bent will play anywhere you ask him but is a back rower not a prop. Lawton one of our best attacking threats and one of the few players that actually scores a few tries from his wide running. Could be asked to play prop simply due to his size but would be wasted in that position.

We have fallen into the same routine as last year, sign someone because they are a good or promising player and available. We need to get the balance right. How many years now have we been a prop or 2 short in the Championship........ We need to join the dots and recruit a balanced team/squad, I can see it a mile off.
