Referee was poor and despite the curious comments from LL, missed far too much foul play.

What's curious about my comments? I was responding to the suggestion that the Widnes HIA were down to foul play from Fev. Watch the video back and you'll see they weren't.

It was Ant Walker who was complaining of 'double vision' and didn't return for the 2nd half. Due to his 'previous' he was not allowed back on, which is understandable. The only positive about the 4 x HIA, is that with no game next week, the 4 players will be available for Swinton at the bash.... if not still suffering the effects.

Thanks for that. I did notice that he didn't return for the second half but had seemed okay at the end of the first half so that would explain it.

Yes, all very unfortunate on the back of losing two others to HIA and starting the game without Amor, Craven, Lawton, Bent and Gilmore.  This was always going to be a difficult afternoon, I thought.  We did do very well to not let them run away with it, and tbh if we had not have conceded two length of the field concessions on the back of poor final play options in their 10 meter area, it could have only been 0-10 at HT.  Gallant effort in the second half, but we are lacking creativity without the two half backs and it is beginning to show once again, just how threadbare the squad is - and that other sides in this division just have better players!  COYV!

LL your comments where spot on.There where two high shots that if the players would have stayed down (like every other team does) then it would of been two binnings, Ironically their binning for the tackle on Ince was never a binning, he got smashed with a real heavy tackle. The blinkered poster must not have seen numerous forward passes by us, every defeat he blames the ref when we all know it's the team he should be blaming.

Kear needs showing the door no attacking structure whatsoever and he is killing the dwindling crowd with the dross served up week in week out. Some of the players are lets say not very happy with his tactics and have been dropped when they have deviated from the negative tactics.

It's been a really poor week as a Widnes fan.  2 games played, 2 loses and only one try scored.

Every team has injuries, we can either feel sorry for ourselves or get on with it.  The worrying thing is that readying the posts here and social media, the fans are starting to accept defeats.  I must have read 'we were never going to win that game' 50 times - if this is the attitude of our club and players we might as well pack it in now.  I expect higher standards for our club than accepting defeat.

I disagree on the tackle in Ince. From my view the defenders arm came right across Ince’s neck.

Same as last week.

"Batley is a tough place to visit and they were runners up last year. What were you expecting."

I'm sure some fans prefer defeats. We may as well give up  and just accept our position as making up the numbers in Division 2.

People shouldn't even mention the ref when we get beat 30-0 at home. We were never in it and Featherstone were in 2nd gear.

I don't know where we go from here. We can blame the coach if we want but I don't. The players and the squad are not good enough and there is no depth. We can't afford any injuries but you always get injuries, always have done always will do.

We have no Academy not even a Category 3 Academy (run through a local college) which shouldn't even cost any money if run right as far as I understand. Lots of Northern Premier League Football Clubs run effectively Category 3 Academies. All the best local Junior Players join rival ''Super League'' Academies or stop playing and not enough local youngsters are playing.

The Club needs to call in all the local stakeholders, junior clubs, schools and thrash this out before it fades away.

Said it pre season, we look a mid table squad ready to play garbage under slap head’s coaching. Wish I could eat my words / eat humble pie but no chance of that. Lucky to finish mid table imo

That is the coaches job his players his depth of squad and his tactics the buck stops with the coach. Any coach worth their salt would have replaced the two departed players and goe hb cover for Gilmore. We have no right o win any game but is it too much to ask for a performance.

@mick-george - the coach doesn't sign the players and the coach doesn't write the cheques or pay the wages. At Saints Mike Rush runs the cap and signs the players, at Wire Karl Fitzpatrick. Phil Finney has gone who is signing the players and running the budget I doubt it is the coach. The players and especially the squad are not good enough to compete at the top end of the Championship. John Kear showed when he took over from Simon Finnegan that he could get more out of the players. But it's still not good enough. How many coaches do we have to go through before it proves beyond doubt that there is a bigger issue.
