Promotion is light years away, give me some silverware ASAP.

That might true but don’t you think if we become the club that challenges and wins the cup for a few seasons then the club will use that as leverage to say we are doing well and this is our level.

Seriously spike, can you see this squad challenging for promotion anytime soon. This now is our level, I don’t want it to be, but I suppose me, you and every other Widnes fan have to accept it.

Even so, I felt it was extremely condescending, we were playing for the 1895 cup and saints and Wire were playing for the Challenge Cup. Also, does anyone really have any desire to win this trophy? The Northen Rail cup was good for a day out at Blackpool but nobody really looks back with pride at the cups we won at Blackpool. Winning the 1895 cup would only distract us from the ultimate long-term goal and that is promotion.

Explain to me why a semi final win and a trip to Wembley would distract us from winning promotion in 2 or 3 years ? If you have fish and chips on Tuesday does it distract you from your next Sunday roast ?

All season every man and his dog - up to and including the this thread have been (rightly) saying that our performances have been poor and what we need is a win. Surely beating Featherstone in a semi would be a great lift and give a massive confidence boost ?

Avoiding relegation?

As I've said on the other thread, we've been handed hugely difficult tasks to get to that famous venue in Middlesex, but I'm not throwing in the towel, so why should you?

All being well, by the time the semis are staged, fans will've been allowed back, and we can travel in numbers to support our team.

Of course, Fev and York will both be huge odds on faves, but.....................

Where there's life, there's hope!

Didn’t enjoy the final experience one iota last time, so personally not bothered either way. However, it is the most realistic chance of silverware (even if it isn’t a great prestige) and we haven’t won anything since 2009.

Agreed with the first bit. Was a bit meh, especially as my first experience of watching Widnes at Wembley. Even without the defeat. Hopefully be a lot better as a curtain raiser though.

I did, there is little if any investment, I don't see that changing. It doesn't mean we can't win a one-off game of RL, as we did at Leigh in 2019.

The club may be slipping into the abyss, but while there are 13 B&W jerseys on the pitch, I'll be cheering them on. They won't be the best players in the Championship, but so long as they give 100% (unlike at Batley) I can live with that.

Paulie xx
