@cumbria-viking The problem is we’re so set on living in the past it’s holding us back massively, look at the likes of Bradford and Leigh spent years in the champ with crowds no different to ours but next year they’re going to Las Vegas, while we get to go Goole!
The board got one thing right appointing Tim Homes I really think the difference we’ve seen this year is because of him not because of the team as we’ve not improved on the pitch but he has improved the experience for everyone off it. Now we will go back to the days of Chris Hamilton etc. saying how we want super league but have no ambition or desire to actually get us there.
Do we still have are 5 year super league plan in place? Must be in about year 10 of that now lol. Players aren’t good enough to compete with the top 4 in our league it’s not there fault but who are we kidding by pretending we want to be the best part time champ team, just look at Donny for example we’re a million miles off them and they’re not even the best part time team in the league… big changes needed and Tim’s left some big shoes to fill. Jordan Abdul’s superlative kicking game was the platform for our February victory over Oldham. Without this outlet valve we simply couldn't withstand Oldham pressure last night.
Donny stuffed us big style at their gaff, and they're our next guests, after we've been to 'Fax, and 'Haven, so will get a second look at 'em then, but I'm not holding my breath!
They're a lonnnnnnnnnnnng way from the "Another Bloody Sunday" times (we're shown scoring against 'em in the opening credits of that programme) and are going well in tier two, meaning a top four place is more than poss for 'em, but....
I would suggest that any ideas they have of SL football next term, are (well?) wide of the mark, with Lockyer's Lads being at similar short odds to fill that role, as is the MP for Makerfield being handed the keys to the most famous front door in the land.

@viking-dan I cannot agree that against a huge Donny pack we put a strong side out. The back 3 of Wilde, Roberts & JJ was so small I reckon we would have struggled against quite a few sides. I just do not get that selection, unless Mc Whirter Houghton & Hall were injured. Plus Bent was also im the 17. Against weaker sides we have played bigger packs but against 2nd & 3rd best sides we play our smallest! How does one fathom that?
We also were missing our best player in Edge who is injured.
I know Richardson was playing behind a beaten pack in both games but he offered nothing more than Gilmore or Lyons. IMO he is not the answer.
I was very frustrated by our performance but when I saw the, once more puzzling, selection choices before the kick off there was only going to be one result before a ball was kicked.

I do not understand Colemans selections unless Hall, Houghton and Mcwhirter injured? Roberts too small against the top sides in the league it would have been better Wilde, Lawton and Hall/McWhirter. JJ is better at hooker in my opinion and too small for 13 against big sides.
Coleman does not have a plan B and needs to think better on his selections. Richardson obviously not in Yorks plans and him and Gilmore too similar. Need a running halfback with an organiser and kicker. We was blessed with Leon Hayes he had it all.
