We lifted notably when Baker and Lawton came on. The only penalty Lawton conceded was a nonsense call by the referee, as Gabriel the winger was on his knees. Lawton started the second half with 4/5 important tackles, including one close to the line. He had a one-on-one ball steal off Butterworth when Widnes were chasing the game.

I stand by my comment that he was one of the better players - though as has been said, there wasn't a great deal of competition.

I've been today and Im sorry to say we are constantly architects to our own downfall. You cannot blame any coach for some of the basic errors. Danny Craven has missed touch twice from penalties (last week at York) and kicked out on the full once this week leading to the one point difference. Dewsbury down to 12 on their own line off side T3. It happens, but when did it happen from our opposition. Cross has had a good season but he invited York in last week and dropped a kick off this week, that will not cut it in the higher division. We had enough chances today to win by a bucketful but if the execution is poor (can't catch) the coach is not  solely to blame.

I don’t like it when we start saying things about players that is totally wrong as some of the vendetta against Lawton is total rubbish. He stays in the place he is told too, he attacks the players he is told too, he takes the balls when he is passed too and makes the line many times and offloads and is responsible for some great tries scored by our wingers and centres, his tackling is aggressive and certainly not paper thin. Read what James said “He was one of the better players” which too be honest isn’t hard again today.

What?… tackling is aggressive…flies out of the line misses ,,,,leaves a gap…..when he does get involved his tackling technique is dangerous hence the pens he constantly gives away every game….an issue the coach should have addressed. Good players look for work if things do not go there way….make an effort to get involved no matter what they are told to do…………………they dont need telling what to do they know. tbh I wish someone on that field today would have told the players what to do cos on their own they looke d totally clueless as is the pattern every week. The coach lacks any game management and the players as individual lack game intelligence… result defeat after defeat…. Today the Dewsbury players played to the upper end of their ability Widnes ????? well if thats their ability ……………… Anyone who thinks Lawton was one of our better players today was not at the same game I was……..

Dewsbury scored three tries today in the centre of the field, Lawton is told to stay on his wing area to tackle their forward on his wing area. He gave one penalty away today when a man fell into him (according to James) and it was classed as a head tackle. It’s all a matter of opinion, you don’t like him so that’s it but there are far worse on the pitch fir me I would pack Lyons off tonight but that’s my opinion👍👍Oh I forgot James was at the match as well as you and his opinion is he was one of the better players👍

They didn`t play with one...........so how does this change things ? game management ?

Widnes look like they train mid week.........there is little evidence of coaching...

I just read it back, and im certain i never forgot anything.

Its not a Vendetta against Lawton, the lad just does not have the heart of a rugby player. He has everything you need to be a rugby player, skill, Size, explosive power and i would argue a good rugby brain. But he does not have the desire or the will to succeed, he cuts corners and avoids work, he is a coaches worst nightmare.

And im sure he always will be, he has never reached his potential, every coach he has ever had has failed to get the best out of him. And at some point you have to accept that all those coaches are not bad coaches, the only constant in his lack of development is himself.

When coaching you look at coachability, does the player have the will and desire to improve. Does he take on instruction and work on his weaknesses Does he listen and improve. Look at his career, its a wreck.

To be fair that’s a given on a forum otherwise we would all end our posts with ‘in my opinion’

is that in your opinion Sinbad😂😂   Of course your right I said that on another message. It’s all a matter of opinions

very good assessment of him..........................is he worth a place in a top 6 championship team........not for me. You can point to what he has done in a game .......its what he hasnt  done that stands out.

You could say that about nearly all the team though.........

Even the best we have seem to take the wrong option far too often..........

I assume playing at Dewsbury we had a plan to get the ball out wider ,quicker and more often given the team we and they have out.........so why with space and an overlap outside does Grady twice turn inside ...the guy used to play in the centre ..............chances gone.

The older more experienced are not leading .....they seem content to drift, go through the motions........

They say we cannot be relegated as  Oldham and Swinton are booked.....probably but watching today we are not 100 % safe yet . Will very likely end up third from bottom and live to fight another day.........................

We just can’t buy a win at the moment, but we must keep the faith!

[quote I fully agree but it so frustrating seeing professional players choose the wrong option time after time & bomb so many tries. Our top earners Smith, craven & Owens are not doing enough unless they are carrying injuries. It is all very well bringing in new forwards for next year but we are losing Lawton who has been mainly instrumental in securing the few wins we have achieved this season. He will be a massive loss to the side. I fear similar mistakes being made again. Ok we have lost Cross but already have an ideal replacement in Spedding who has pace to burn but poor on defence & decision making (he is not alone in that I know) but IMO wasting money bringing a new winger in. Surely a strong replacement centre would be the better move to replace Spedding in that position? Wingers should be the least of our priorities.

Lawton is a lazy twix, he never takes the ball in, he hides out wide. He's 6'7" , 19 stone and a coward.

PROVE ME WRONG BIG MAN!

It's the Coach's job to coach the players, improve them, make them make the right decisions, to do the right thing, at the right time. SF appears to me to be just a Betts clone. We are piss-poor to the Nth degree. This whole season has been an abortion. Don't give me "It's not his team" bullshite. He is employed as a coach to do the above. No player has improved, made better, or do the right thing at the right time, regardless who signed them.

Make of that what you want

Yep we will finish third from bottom but some people will accept it. We will roll on to next year with people wanting to give it another go. What is being served up at the moment is a disgrace.

Re; Jack Owens. I think he should be made to step down from the captaincy. It's affecting his game (IMHO), he needs to be concentrating on his own game, rather than the other 12 on the pitch, Tyrer is, or appears to be the most vociferous on the pitch. Maybe he should be given the honour.

Seems to me like craven and Owens are on east street knowing their contracts are locked in.

Correct. Too many dickheads stand at the perimeter fence at full time and clap these Jokers off. They're part of the problem. The players probably think, "the punters are happy with our efforts. Same again next week"

Couldn't believe the amount of people who clapped the team off today.

The player’s efforts this season don’t deserve applauding.
