Craven is struggling to get through a warm up now let alone a full game. He'll be wearing his tuxedo mainly sat in the stand. The right decision to let him go and good luck to him.
Good luck to Craven at Oldham. A good player at Championship level and will be difficult to replace (Lyons?).Craven is struggling to get through a warm up now let alone a full game. He'll be wearing his tuxedo mainly sat in the stand. The right decision to let him go and good luck to him.
Has been a good servant, but Oldham have signed an injury prone player.
Who knows what his fitness level will be. I can remember Gilmore being regularly injured when he was with us a few years ago, but played regularly at Halifax and Batley. On his day, he could be a great asset to Oldham, who seem to be looking to build a strong League 1 squad.
I just hope that we have the ambition (and funds) to be building a strong squad for the Championship, to give fans some hope of a top 6 place in 2024 and maybe looking to SL sometime thereafter. Sadly, if rumours of signings are correct, we could be following Oldham and building a strong League 1 squad in 2024 to compete in the Championship!!

I wish him luck and has been a good servant just a risk with his injuries. Next year Widnes will need to replace Craven with a durable halfback, and that is the coaches job. If doesn't assemble a decent team he will get a lot of crunchie from the fans. The buck lands with the coach to produce the best out of players, and building a big pack is a priority.
I recall that even Andy Gregory left under his own steam.
When asked 'why?' he said that he saw David Hulme chasing hard and he didn't want the coach, a mate, to have to tell him that he was redundant!
Did this really happen? Like, in this life?
No.As good as David Hulme was he would never have kept Gregory out of any team..He left because he fell out with Vinty and then fancied a move to Wigan. He stayed away from the club to force the issue but Wigan dropped out and he reluctantly signed for Warrington.
Now that sounds like a reasonable explanation - the story was from a journo!
