@ditton-donkey - I’m inclined to agree, if we are going to have the competition at all it should be done properly with a full entry of 2nd and 3rd tier clubs.
@jdgsport what if all five sides lose in Rond Six - how do you think they will decide which three qualify automatically and which two will have to face each other in the knockout match ?
It won't matter if they all lose in round six, because it'll still be the same five. I think they'll draw two out of a hat to play-off - though they could base it on finishing positions from last season (which wouldn't bode well for us)
I’m sure that the numpties in the RFL will point out that Monday games on TV will bring in a wider audience, although I personally think it’s at the expense of supporters actually going to a game.
Remember the floodlight cup - that was on Tuesday night I think, apart from a final we lost ( bramley ?)
which if I recall was played on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon as there was a 3 day week (1973 ?)
Just checked it - was 1973 and final played at naught on park midweek in the day. The only trophy that bramley ever won !
Got to be realistic - we made Beaumont/Leigh look a bit silly getting knocked out of their own cup, he'll want his revenge!!!
The very idea that something should be thought out beforehand would be out of character for the RFL.
To be fair I've been pleasantly surprised at some of the Monday Night Rugby, crowd at Dewsbury was good and happy to be wrong about that.
However, long term not sure about it all...
As for tomorrow, love to win, but at the end of the day I think everything this year needs to be about the league and getting into the play-offs.
