I’m sure that the numpties in the RFL will point out that Monday games on TV will bring in a wider audience, although I personally think it’s at the expense of supporters actually going to a game.

I've said numerous times that the away fan isn't relevant in rugby league, especially in the Championship.  They don't make any significant difference as generally, RL fans don't travel in big numbers to away games.

The duty is to showcase the best games in the new TV, and Leigh v Widnes is the tie of the round.  Don't really understand the fume.

Plenty will be able to go now it's Monday, it works both ways.

You may of said it but your talking wotsits for some clubs its survival. Why do you think all the clubs love Widnes in the championship.

Lovely post thanks.  Stop making it all about Widnes and think we're some super club keeping everyone afloat.  Money through the turnstyle is vital for all clubs, but it's not bigger than TV money.  They'll always be bigger clubs who have more away fans, but that's not what comes into consideration when picking TV games.

RL fans will find a negative to everything, the TV figures for Monday night RL has been excellent for the first 2 weeks, but let's find the negative.

No TV fixtures will take the away fan into consideration, ever.

I’m an ancient supporter VM and free to go out at night, but my grandson (and maybe other youngsters too) aren’t able to go to night matches.

No doubt he’ll watch it on TV but is that what the game is all about, staying at home and watching RL on the tele? Please give some thought to the wider future of our game.

I agree with you, my son won't be going to any of the night matches and he'd have gone if it was an afternoon.

Here's some thoughts on the wider future of the game, without TV deals there is no future of the game.

You may well be right VM, and judging by my poor performance in BoB’s prediction table, you probably are!!

100%.

£25 for a Championship standard early round cup tie on a Monday night.

It's only fair though, Degsy's got to pay for those trips to Dubai somehow though.

What annoys me about the admission price, is Widnes are in collusion with Beaumont as it is a shared gate. The most any adult should have to pay is £15 (my opinion) £10 concessions, and under 12's Free. That would be reasonable as the game is on a Monday night, televised, and is on top of any Home ST prices. I'm sure the Leythers will be as annoyed as the Widnes Faithful. The attendance will be less than 2500, where it should be pushing double that. And don't forget, more bodies = more beer, tea & pie sales.

Are you sure Widnes are in agreement with the price ?

surely it’s up to the home side to set the price

however I agree that the price Is too high it should be £10 entry

Think in Cup games both teams have to agree on the price as the gate is shared.

London thanked Bradford for agreeing to lower their prices.

I’m disappointed Widnes haven’t done the same.

Off topic too, but I’m disappointed we haven’t heard anything from the club regarding Monday night away games. Widnes’ fans attendance is being taken for granted. Dewsbury, Leigh, Sheffield and Newcastle all away on Monday nights  surely isn’t right.

Would Beaumont listen/care what our club wanted? Probably not

Degsy needs some money back for his overpayment of players and may stay in the Championship next year too. His pockets must be going lower now. 😂😂

I think without TV deals there is no future for the game as it currently stands - laughably poor administration, funding skewed for the benefit of the few, no investment in, association with or any sign at all of encouragement in the grassroots game, absolutely no consideration of the thought, concerns or ideas of fans of the game - let alone potential converts to watching the game.

Would it really be a bad thing if the game in its current guise died ?

The game will always survive because it is fun to play, get rid of the current rubbish and let the game find it’s level. People who want to play will play and people who want to watch will go and watch and tell the media not to let the door hit them on the a*se on the way out.

I agree with Vikingman. Yes we have three games on Prem Sports on the bounce but that’s how the cookie crumbles and we just have to take it on the chin - if all three were home games then we could whinge!

For years we have had no Championship games on the TV and this year we have more SL and more Championship games than I can ever remember, so it figures we will have more televised games - for which the club will be paid. I certainly wouldn’t be going to Leigh for £25, or across to Dewsbury or Sheffield on a Monday night, so it’s a winner for me.

On the other point of us being disadvantaged against Leigh as our lads might have been to work, well yes, that is unfortunate but to be honest if you think that this is the difference between winning and losing that game then you’re probably deluded to start with!🤣

Just listened to the York v Leigh match and Joe Mellor is playing a starring role according to the commentary.

He’s someone we will have to close-down for us to pull off a win in the cup.

Ticket prices now been lowered to £20 instead of £25, which I think is a good move and makes it a more attractive proposition. Hopefully that will encourage both sets of fans to attend and swell the gate, plus create a good atmosphere.
