The signing of Fozz for three years should be a boost to Widnes supporters generally and could be the start of another move forward.
The massive boost that the Widnes public gave when we were in the Receiver's hands was the turning point in very bad days. Without it the club would have sunk below the waves.
A similar effort through WVIPs, even if only from our 2,000 crowd, could give the club, and AC, the wherewithal to look at upgrading our squad for this year and, more importantly, the next.
I just hope that the Board can mount an appeal that will hit the £5 a month mark.
Starting a Supporters Club may help?
Good idea mate we need to find different ways to generate extra money to compete or have a chance of the playoffs.
Yes for sure we need more funding - but recent results have not helped
slow burn - get back into the primary schools and build from there
encourage amateur teams in the town and play a Widnes knockout comp as a curtain raiser
That means giving the amateur teams money to play the curtain raiser mind
perhaps use the golden gamble money for that ?
Certainly the possibility of playing a junior game of some sort as a pipe-opener to home games makes a lot of sense imo. Whether that could be part of the general amateur programme or a club inspired competition of some sort might be a start. Again, if a business sponsorship could be persuaded to cover costs it would be even better.
The early attendance at our most recent game made a difference and I'm sure the youngsters enjoyed the opportunity. Apart from anything else the pitch covered by our youngsters was great to see.
Old memories of the after match pitch invasions to collect stocking ties from our heroes still make me smile !!!

What was remarkable and heartwarming was the response from many who probably hadn't been to a game for years, but saw the loss of the club as a real emergency.
The unfortunate loss of the VIQI operation, for reasons that I know nothing about, was a sad event, but we need to go forward with what we have or the saving of the club will have been worthless.
