Isn’t there a rule, or has it been got rid of, where a club wanting to buy a young player, had to pay a transfer fee?
If not, there’s no point in giving a player a contract, because they can just leave when they want.

Tbh, I can't see the club standing in the way of anyone getting a SL offer. Just the way it is.
Bradford play their final home game tonight, and have no chance of the Play-Offs, so I'd imagine it would be next season.

What we have to realise, unless a Club has a rich Board, or Backer, then The Championship is a feeder comp for SL, and has been for a few years.

Could it be that given there is no money within the Club or the game, then is a 'Contract' actually considered legal or binding at this level?

I’m not surprised that an SL rumour has started, I expected it and do think we’ll be lucky to keep him for his contract. That said though, I think it’d be in his interest to stay with Widnes for now as I’m pretty confident that he’d get better offers from more established and better SL clubs in the future.
I agree Steve. I watched most of Bradford v Cas last night, they're not bringing anything to SL that we couldn't.
Yes, 2 poor sides, but Cas we’re the worst, from what I could see of the match, from Skys terrible coverage, with the picture going off then back on again, and the commentators sounded like Norman Collier(if people remember him).
I can’t imagine them having a football game televised like that, without quickly fixing it, and not let it continue for the full match, like it did last night.
Regarding Connell going, I’ve been told that every championship player has a clause in their contract these days, that says, if a SL club come in for them, their club have to let them go.
So it’s pretty pointless them signing a contract, because they can just go when they want to, and their club can’t do anything about it.

I think it shows what Sky thinks of RL. They haven’t got 7 good commentators for each match and definitely not 7 good summarisers, the worst being that Aussie woman who plays for Leeds, her voice is so bad, you can’t concentrate on what she’s saying.
It might be better if they only start showing just 3 games a week on a main channel. At least there’s less chance of the broadcast going wrong and they should be able to find 3 good commentators and summarisers

That kind of makes sense to a point, but it shouldn't be for free. Doesn't happen in any other sport & is actually what helps/keeps lower league teams going in them.
SL once again looking after itself, and legally doesn't seem fair at all. If most are semi-pro though would they only have to give 2 weeks notice like a normal job?

Last night, my screen froze just after the kick-off at Odsal, as did my mate's who lives a couple of miles away. He messaged me after about five minutes and said "I've logged off, and tried again, and it's ok." I did the same, and mine was up and running too, but....................
A lady Lion who's only round the corner from me, and on Virgin, had np probs.
Hopefully, next season, our game won't be "hidden" any more, and these hitches can become a thing of the past!
On saying that, the quality of the football on show, wasn't the best! 🤣
