@mckviking i don't think we will ever get London going it's never going to work!! How many stadiums have they had 10? Maybe more ? Branson spent a fortune they also had a owner who was losing a million a year and still no good surely better to build from strength build heartland clubs barrows oldhams etc back to where they were with the aim to have 20 strong vibrant clubs then once game is flourishing look to try and see what areas can be added but you can't build from a state of weakness where we only have 6/7 viable clubs

Build the Widnes up I am so biased I could not care about other clubs. Widnes and France my passion so sod the rest. 😂🇫🇷🥖🥖

If you don't want to win a trophy as a fan or a player then you need to watch/play another pastime. Paulie is correct that we made cash from our trip to Wembley. With the luck of the draw it could be a very easy path to the final and 1 for one will be there to watch it again.

Exactly @mick-george

So much negativity on here, it's toe-curling at times. Our aim should be to win every game, every trophy. The lad's of the 70's, 80's and early 90's bust a gut to win everything, and mainly did. Nobody worried what money we would make from trips to Wembley etc.

Up the Chemics!

Paulie xx

Not bad at all, Dewsbury and if we win that London or Doncaster.

We have a real chance for the 1895, especially as one of Fax and Bradford will be out given the draw, ditto Sheffield and York....

I’m not sure I agree with this whittling down of the lower leagues clubs to then join the big boys? You wouldn’t see the FA cup or League cup doing that in football… seems a bit contrived… surely not just to get to the semi’s of the Degsy cup?

Totally agree, the CC has become a non event for lower league and amateur clubs.

If you take West Raiders for example, they were thrilled to play us last week, but imagine the excitement if they were in the same pot as Wigan, Saints or Wire and drew one of them.

As you say the current format couldn't be any further away from "the magic of the cup"

I agree about the magic of the cup, but on the flip side the game has come a long way in terms of speed and strength.  Would you want some of those West's players coming up against the likes of Wigan of Saints, they could end up getting absolutely battered from a physical perspective.

Unpopular opinion but I wouldn't mind if we were out of the competition already.Meaningless games for clubs at this level. Featherstone won't be bothered about being knocked out by Halifax.Probably played half hearted.

I disagree, we look unlikely to win the league. The Challenge Cup gives us the chance of a SL game in round 6. I remember a few years ago we beat Cas at home when we played in the Championship.  I would fancy us at home against Wakefield.

Also if we beat Dewsbury and London we are in the semi final of the 1895 Cup and just 1 game away from Wembley.  The players would have a great chance to play at the stadium and experience the build up and it's a good weekend for our fans, especially the younger ones thst missed the glory days.

It would also help raise the profile of the club, win some silverware and hopefully put in a decent showing against a SL side. With all this IMG grading nonsense it wouldn't harm us to go as far as we can and build momentum.  It could also get a few lapsed fans on board who could stick with us for the rest of the season if we are successful.

In my honest opinion, if we only want to play matches that we think we can win then there’s no point playing at all. I always watch Widnes because I want to watch us play and, of course, I always hope we win but having watched them since the early 1960’s I’ve just about come to terms that we aren’t always going to win.

Imagine us getting drawn against the Wire in round 6. Get them down at our place, get stuck into them, who knows - shock results can happen. And, if we can’t beat them, then like they used to say in the 1960’s let’s make sure we take a piece of them home with us.

I certainly don't agree with whittling down the lower league clubs to suit the SL teams, that's a joke.

I can remember when we were the best team in the league and a 2nd division Oldham came to town and schooled us 4-16. Chris O'Sullivan put smokin Joe on his backside and they completely dominated us.

Not right the current set-up. SL teams win 1 game and they're in the quarters? Nah.
