IIRC when Widnes FC folded it was because it was costing £5k+ to enable a home game. I suppose when you only have a handful of speccies, renting the DCBL is unsustainable.

Well if it’s K8 for a game, that’s 400 pot of the window before we start, but given crowds of 2K plus we should be doing ok

oldham will be back to a park team soon

Just wondering. How much did board members put in? Was it £10K each or nearer £50K? And how many are there?

Just wondering how much it might cost AH to buy them out. Then add say £1M to put a credible bid for SL in place, plus another conservative £250K per year for two years to fund a team once in SL until we find our feet.

So if he has c£2M in cash to put in then perhaps he should be taken seriously?

The present board came together after the multi millionaire and his chief executive fleeced the club, emptying the bank account the day before placing the club in administration.

The board members non of whom are wealthy people came to the clubs rescue, they have worked hard for the club and done their best.

A genuine new investor would be very welcome but they should not expect the others to resign.

Issue new shares for the new investor and the existing board members stay on as minority shareholders.

It is what should happen, the true fans really appreciate what our board members have done for the club.

Lets hope for some good news.

@k9 In an ideal world that would be a great scenario as we don't want any Widnes Fans walking away from the cause. Unfortunately, in business that doesn't always happen.

IIRC in one of James/Mike's podcasts, it was mooted that you can't just lob your £25k in, and become a member of the board. If a 1000 WV fans did that, it would be unrealistic to have 1005 on the Board. I suppose there is nothing to stop present Board members letting more financially, upwardly mobile Investors, forming a new Board, while they step aside, keep their shares, and just sit back on a Sunday and enjoy being a spectator. They would still have a percentage vote on Club policy. Who knows. But one thing is certain, if 'substantial' investment can't be attracted soon, I can't see us being here for our 160 year anniversary.

@vikingfox71 Correct, even though we have IMG now the GF winning team have always gone up, which is the British way. Wakey, Toulouse and 99% chance London will win the GF this year. The RFL have never been in the position of stopping the grand final winning side going up since Dewsbury and Hunslet in the late 90's.

I must have been dreaming when Fev won the Grand Final in 2011 and the RFL promoted Widnes, who finished 18 points behind them in 5th, instead!

Possibly one of the biggest 'touches' in the history of the internet.

Still too soon to talk about that in Fev, Paulie, even though we don't have a team any more!

Was there not 5 boxes to tick to qualify between 2009/10/11 seasons? GF or NR Cup was one of them. I can't remember the other 4.
