Did brown still have 2 or 3 years left on his contract at the time?

if he was on between 80-150k per year that could be 240-350k wages saved plus then a 40-60k transfer fee

Which is much different to -  ''The club received a fee of £400,000'' as posted in this thread.

Maybe have a listen to the interview and make your own mind up as to what Brown actually said?

As I set this hare running, I went back to the podcast. Brown actually said that the club got £400,000 from the transfer fee and wages, so SV was right. Brown's contract ran to the end of 2018, so 2 years salary savings must be included in that figure.

It does not take away from the point made that the transfer probably just put back Administration for 18 months and enabled the Directors to pay themselves their inflated salaries for a bit longer rather than invest in the team.

Great interview and gave an insight into just how close we were in 2016 to having a team capable of competing in SL, but let down by poor management at Board level.

It would be good to hear Denis Betts' view on the team and why he stayed when players were allowed to leave and not replaced. Maybe he should have resigned once Brown was allowed to go and not replaced on top of other departures.
