I see Leigh have recalled Brand because they have injuries, and he won’t be able to play for Widnes again this season.
We don’t seem to have much luck with loan/dual reg players do we?
Just another reminder that we can’t rely on loan players next year.
Brand now gone for the season, having missed a game the other week so he could go and watch the UFC.
Warrington recalled Bardsley Rowe last so he could travel to Warrington with the first team.
Don't have much sympathy for Widnes- sign your own players and be in charge of their destiny.
I’d be very surprised if he makes the run on side - despite injuries. The squad has O’Brien, McIntosh, Hanley, Leutele and Hardaker (Charley banned this week) all named so unless any of those are included in the list but injured like we do…
Shocking set up for loan players. RFL should grow a pair and ensure loaned players are retained and not called back on a whim. Surely a better system is needed as it does the championship team no good (other than highlighting the need for signing more players of our own).
@johnnyboy So we loan a player, to say NWC, then we get an injury in training, and can't recall him?
It doesn't work like that.
Paulie xx
@pauliewalnuts I know it doesn’t work like that but SL clubs have far greater player pool sizes who would normally be able to absorb injuries (which is strange Leigh have recalled Brand) but then disadvantage the team who has the loanee (the whole reason said team have loaned them is to get them out of a spot).
However you look at it we’re disrupted and the parent club may even choose not to play them (eg Zac last week for Dire).
Just seems wrong and weighted against the SL club in my eyes (and I guess I want my cake and to eat it!!!)
I stand corrected Brand is on the wing as O’Brien in halves… 🙄
The problem was the club announced a season long loan which mislead some fans who never read the small print. It was clumsily worded.Should have said a loan deal for an indefinite period.
I'm sure the club would love to have a large squad packed with quality, but finances dictate we need to rely on loan signings to fill the squad.
I dare say it won't be any different next season unless we find a wealthy backer.
