Great result, not conceding in the second half either. Is it fair say Finnigan was crap?

Was Finnigan playing ?

Finningan finished playing years ago voyston rasey my old ball bag 😜

Did he ? Well I never.

just wondering why Finnigan got a couple of mentions given he has nothing to do with the club anymore. I think most of us would prefer to talk about the good stuff that’s going on, my old ball bag.

Yeah he did Roy my old sausage.. 2012 I think 😜..

It's a discussion forum and seen as the turnip finningan had his hands all over this team for most of this season so far.. he ruined our play off chances so early which could have been so different under a good coach like sir John Kear.

Be very careful DM, he's obviously some sort of self appointed message board Police Sergeant

It was originally a (poor) attempt at humour because I was happy with the win and I didn’t really think that Finnigan was playing. Apologies for not being clear.

Not many saw that result coming, but what a result. Full credit to the coach and the players for the recent run of form. Long may it continue. It augurs well for 2023, with a stronger squad and greater depth and a real chance of a play-off position.

There will still be any two of Leigh/Featherstone/Toulouse (or maybe Wakefield/Wire!!) favourites for the promotion spot, but we should be in a good position for any SL restructuring. I believe that fans will return to support the club, both this year and next year if we can maintain the current form.

A win at Batley is always a very good result and we'll done to all.

I have at times this season been a little concerned about our goal kicking % and had gilmore's try been allowed ( for once the correct result for us ) , yesterday's 40 % return could have beven the difference .

I know that sport is made up of iffs and buts , however , I think that next year's recruitment should include a high percentage goal kicker in one of identified positions , possibly at half back if Smith retires.

Back to the win, and I thought our forwards held up very well against a pack who have been better than most and very consistent especially on their home pitch and have been for a couple of seasons.

I feel sure that John Kear will have made it clear that people are playing for contracts and his style of man management seems to be having a positive effect on our squad.

Excellent performance and onward and upward against a Barrow side who are also in good form, in what could be the game of the summer bash.

We have two high percentage goalkickers in Owens and Tyrer. I doubt Edge’s record is that bad either.

All the conversions missed were pretty much on the touchline, in difficult conditions.

It would be better for Widnes if Wakefield got relegated this year, as they would have less chance of  attracting big money, and a immediate return to SL, especially with such a poor ground, although it would be good to see Wire get relegated, they would probably have the money and players, to go straight back up.

I think it will be Wakefield who come down, they’ll probably have the money to remain full time although losing some of their better players will still be head and shoulders above us and alike, featherstone may well have gone all out  a season too early

Rovers are wobbling now.The two defeats against Leigh and one against Batley has taken the wind from their sails and their wins now are less convincing.Toulouse getting relegated would be of no use to ourselves or any other championship club.Far too strong.

@mt OK a play off place is probably going to be too much of a challenge, but the fact that we can even think of it still being theoretically possible after our losing streak is a massive shot in the arm! All Kear can do is keep winning and hope others fall away!

Agree that it’s fantastic that it is even a vague possibility given that before he took over we looked likely to stagger through the season probably finishing between ninth and eleventh. All I want to see for the rest of the season is 100 percent effort which I’m sure we’ll get and winning the majority of our games which hopefully will also ensue.

If Wakefield get relegated, I don't see any reason Widnes can't be having a stab at promotion because the whole league would almost be on a level playing field then (for the first time in many years).

I think you are right there, much as I like going to Toulouse, if they come down maybe the money man might pull the plug

looking like Leigh to go up and as you say fev will then be in a bit of a pickle

we need to finish top 4 next year

@ditton-donkey I’m hoping that’s the aim and the reason we spent so little this season on the squad
