Matt shaw reporting tonight we have signed Lloyd, butt from swinton and prop martyn Riley from Batley

personally think Riley is a great addition with size and aggression, Lloyd someone who is clearly trusted by Coleman as captain and could be an underrated signing

not sure on butt but does suggest some wingers are leaving considering we have 5 already

Didn't say we'd signed them ..just said there on our radar n contract been offered...agree with Reilly brings load of aggression....butt and lyodd are actually decent and no surprise tbh ..if I had to guess 3 players from Swinton he'd want to bring with him that'd be two of them...I'd assume holroyd and Millar will be two leaving .. personally think Ince will be aswel ..

Millar looked and played well but his injuries seem to have ended his run, likewise Craven and Owens along with Farnworth's illness (whatever it was seems to still trouble him).

Reilly sounds like just what we need, hope he signs! acks like Batley's don't seem to have big names but they ask questions that we can't answer.

There was mention of a Pilks Rec full back amongst the Swinton possibilities too iirc.

What is Jayden Hatton doing these days, looked promising before Leigh gave him false promises  ?

Saw him play a few times this season and stands out in a very poor side by a country Mile could be a rough diamond and an example of making it the hard way

Prior to joining Batley this season, Riley spent 1 year at Sheffield, his club before that - Oldham.

The players we are rumoured to be signing that are worse than we already have thread 🤣

I await the Coleman out thread and massive meltdown mid April 2024.

We don't even know who is coming from Swinton ...if any are at all .it's coming from from people in forums saying "I've heard"...if any do come I'd be more concerned who there coming into replace ...would I be happy butt replacing holroyd or Ince ... absolutely ...would I be happy lyodd replacing brown .. absolutely.....too many people pure suffer from rugby snobbery ...think ah it's Swinton their gash ...same people who probably praise Roberts or Hatton .who came from Swinton ..we've spent few years now spewing money on so called big names who've failed spectacularly ..same as name coaches ...even if the said players do come nobody knows what role they'll play...seen as starters or squad players ...just remind yourselves of our so called better big signings this season alone  ...amor.. disaster...Johnson..disaster .. Johnstone... flop....Millar.. permanently injured...walker ..bang bang average ..big money's gone down the toilet on names..add craven n Owens to that ...I for one want players that actually get on the pitch...n when there on it they don't roll over n have their bellys tickled or just quit...let's see it play out coz let's face it alot of incoming n outgoing rumours will be way off base ....oh n don't forget them crap players..that crap coach were 17 mins from a double over Toulouse..made us look stupid at home ..beat batley..Sheffield...all things so far our wonderful players haven't managed ...

The players we're talking about getting rid of, everyone's been slagging off on here for ages so that shouldn't matter really.

I guess you take a new coach on face value and let him assemble his own team.

Realistically, every (EVERY) thread we do on here comes down to the fact that, if we want Super League, we need to be full time. And the reality is, we're in no position to be full time. No chance.

So, people say we're a mid-table Championship team .. yeah we are. What do you think is going to change? Unless someone walks through the door with money, nothing.

We could get into the play-offs, fluke a bit of form etc. We ain't SL bound in our current guise, get over it. Even if we fluked the play-offs, there's no point us going up.

Cumbria and 1971 I am sort of with your theory as Amor and Johnstone where shite. Big names don't matter it is players who work as, a, team and for each other. Roberts from Swinton and I really like him as a player. Batley have proven how to be successful and apart from Lawton I am not bothered who has gone. Farnworth not done too much, Craven like biscuit, Brown average and Lawton just dangerous out wide.

Unless a big money person comes in and gets us playing full time, I actually want a team who are honest and hard working for each other, which Coleman explained in a interview. I am sure at least 60 to 70% of the squad will be retained, and it looks like we will miss out on the playoffs again. Belshaw has played more exciting rugby than Kear and let's get behind the team. 💪👍

I would say Butt is a similar player to Ince. Lloyd is a second row so will come in for Grady or Wilde. Lloyd’s captain and a stalwart of Swinton so I can’t see him coming without some guarantee from Coleman that he’ll play.

Also, don’t forget Swinton have regularly had saints players in the side throughout the season. They had 3 in the side that beat us. When short of dual reg lads they haven’t done quite so well, such as getting beaten home and away by Newcastle.

Agree Ince n butt are similar in style but I think butt has scored beat part of 40/50 more tries..some will say well he's played in league one ...but I'm sure Ince did for a season n scored like 2 in 20+ appearance's...so I'd say butt is an upgrade on Ince and definitely holroyd...and tbf lyodd is a decent player ..our previous coach obviously rated him coz he played him in the world cup..anyways all ifs butts n maybes for now..excuse the pun 🤣

Butt has scored 3 tries all year 🙄

I'd say wing is a position we really don't need to change.  Ince and Dixon when all fit, Millar was great before his muscle injury and Brookes always puts a shift in, but who knows who is staying and leaving in a world where contracts are generally 1 year in the Championship.

Recruiting Swinton players who have been near the bottom year after year is a touch of 'doing the same things and expecting different results' - but appreciate it is way to early to start judging next years squad make up.

One thing I will say, it's very clear that frustration has long set in to the support base, and the only way to improve this is by winning games.  This years recruitment is massive for next season.
