See we missed the prelim round which is good, and we have dewsbury away in round 1

after their weekend result that may not be as easy as one would expect

i would hope for a win there though

The whole point of the 1895 Cup was to enable 2 non-SL Clubs the chance of playing at Wembley (and to boost the CCF attendance). Now, it looks like the final is to be held at Wakefield on August Bank Holiday weekend. So what is the point of it anymore?

Bin it.

sorry chap disagree there - it is a competion for lower clubs to win a trophy,

in reality they will not win the challenge cup.

there used to be the northern rail cup for the same teams

back in the day there were the county cups which gave the lower teams a chance and some good crowds, John player knockout - ditto, BBC 2 floodlight cup and for a short time the captain Morgan ( which sadly I think dire won)

But as I have said many times take the final to a development area - like the magic weekend was , maybe Walsall - great travel links and may help hurricanes, or Bristol - sure the rovers ground would be available

No problem that you disagree, that's good for debate. All those cup completions, that are now no more (apart from the NRC) would have been won by the SL teams if re-introduced. The NRC is really the 1895 under a different name. It worked in Blackpool, as did Summer Bash, but Walsall, no chance.

Just my opinion, which counts for nothing.

Its good to have a cup competition that you can win. For me Wembley didnt work as everyone went home and no one cared about it as an after thought with no publicity. The NRC at Blackpool was great and we won it twice. I fear now though that the interest isnt there, so the crowd may not be enough to justify it.

However by announcing the format so late and STILL not announcing the venue for the final the RFL havent even given it a chance of success or any respect for that matter. If it is at Wakefield its very uninspiring.

And ironically, 2 of the past winners are no-more.

I would like us to win it but agree a final at Wakefield isn't the most appealing! I will go if we get there as I'm sure the majority here will.

I think they already need to be thinking about bringing back the Championship Finals Day- could have that at Blackpool and have the Women's Championship Final on the same day?

I think we all know Wembley is a crap option - we played there and lost before about 6000 crowd ?
and it was a very poor experience for me

i know I mentioned Walsall, but that was an example of where it could go - maybe Wolverhampton or villa,West Brom,Wrexham etc

or even Shrewsbury - the whole idea of magic and NRC cup was to show off the game in new areas

I see Barrow got the short straw and the worst possible tie for them by distance and opposition.London away. They are looking to raise 5K for over night accomodation and expenses. No cash flow without a home game for weeks and weeks.
