Does anyone know if and when this is being played next season?

There is no mention of it in the fixtures released by Widnes tonight.

I do not have any knowledge but noticed the glaring  omission of dates & think it would be very unlikely it is scrapped, but then again this is Rugby League so nothing would surprise me!

I have found something in Yorkshire Live. It says the teams that win their second round Challenge Cup ties essentially qualify for the 1895 Cup. How the games will be fitted in is not stated but probably the same week ends of The Challenge Cup ties as long as a club has been eliminated from that competition!  The  12 clubs that win will play SL teams at home in the new CC format & those clubs will also play for the 1895 cup in a knock out competition. I can see some unwanted mid week matches having to be fitted in for some clubs. There are however gaps in some  May & June weekends.

I forgot to add the final 4 teams will be the winners of the 4 non SL fixtures in round 3. It does not say what happens if a non SL club beats a SL club. I guess they will be told they can only progress in the Challenge Cup & not the 1895 Cup. Otherwise that club would have a fixture congestion issue that could hinder their success in the   This to me is messy. Also these days SL fans do not tend to travel in big numbers for cup games in the early rounds & even less likely too if the opposition is not a SL club unless it is a local derby perhaps.

It's not a SL Clubs job to fill our stadium, that's our job. The fixture should sell itself.
