This thread is an interesting read - quite amazing to recite the story of our government over the past few years! As the saying goes “you couldn’t script it”!

Though I’m sure opinions are split, the witch-hunt against Boris has just been pathetic. History will show that Boris was successful as PM only because no other Tory wanted the poison Brexit chalice, but then found himself negotiating a pandemic, Russian aggression and a worldwide supply and financial crisis. Look around the world, there a few democratically elected leaders who came out of Covid well!

Change will come though as it’s been 13 years since the Labour chancellor left the note saying “There’s no money left” and it’s now long forgotten. Im a Tory voter, but change is needed as the Tory party is all out of credible candidates. I do worry that Sir Kier isn’t a leader though, I see Raynor as more of a political leader though the Labour Party would never allow it. It’ll be good to see what Labour put forward as their policies though.

Hope you are watching the COVID-19 enquiry

Destructive politics manned by greedy, opportunistic chancers.

What was so fundamentally wrong in this country before 2016?

Since then, nothing has gone right, the place is a basket case.

Reeling from years of austerity targeted at our most vulnerable.

A cash-grab transfer of money from the working-class to the elites.

A regular shuffle of overlords, one more extreme than the next.

And they're trying to convince you that they're putting it right??

Sunak will be out soon, left to his wife's billions and his hedge-fund speeches making a million an event. Ordinary people will be (further) left to pick up the tab for this failed populist jingoism.

Makes me sick.

What I will say to you Tories, which you will like, I'll not vote Labour while Starmer is in charge.

Zero principles that bloke. At least the Tories admit they're f**king you while they do it.

His stance on Israel is lamentable. They're fascists and need to be called out. Corbyn did it, was right and was set up by the Daily Mail. But obvs since proved right.

Green will be getting my vote.

So not only did he break (his own) lockdown laws, yesterday he turned up to vote without the relevant ID! I took mine, so why should the blond buffoon be any different?

Did he arrogantly think "I'm Boris Johnson, so I don't need ID!" or summat of that ilk? Guess what my answer to that question is!

Anyway, his party took an absolute caning at the polls, so I can see Sunak hanging on till the last possible moment before finally allowing the British public to decide that the Blue Faction's time in Number 10 is coming to and end!

Spelly, still well left of centre!

Johnson, and people like him, don't think rules apply to them. Rules are for ordinary people, not rule makers. Oh to be the person who turned him away, the pinnacle of an existence.

Yes, a terrible set of results for the Tories. But don't be fooled, the GE will be different. Amazingly, there are still people who voted Tory at these elections and, just as baffling, their mates Reform seem to attract a similar amount of votes. Come the GE, the Tories will poll well. I will still have a pound on no outright majority, Labour might well need the Libs to get over the line. But whatever gets the Tories out is ok by me.
