It shows how careful the RFL and IMG are (aren't!) in selecting and monitoring SL teams.

Never see their attendances announced and with the way they have played the non dom rules between the 2 clubs rode a horse and carriage through the idea of the rules
hopefully they will have to release some of the Newcastle registered non dorms which will weaken York b team for future games
On one side of the coin, you have York reaching the promised land by winning the Grand Final, so have a legitimate right to be there.
But am I right in saying that both they and Toulouse were only given half of the SL monies that was handed out to the other teams?
If that is so, then how can that be right in any way, and weren't they set up to fail right from the off?
On the other side of the coin, however, you can argue that the York owners should have seen this coming and demanded guarantees that they would receive an equal share. Equally, in order to live the dream, they should have stepped in to make up the shortfall.
Maybe they already have, but it suggests that their pockets aren't as deep as they need to be in order to compete at this level.
Time will tell, but the move to 14 teams has been a disaster, and on reflection, it should have been reduced to just ten teams, with a re-jig of the Championship into a simplified Division One and Two.
That would allow RL to lay down some firm foundations, and then develop the Sport from there.
None of this stuff is rocket science, but until the Authorities understand that RL is not that big a deal outside of the regions and start developing sensible policies and strategies from there, then the game is doomed.
Oh, and for what its worth, London coming in next year won't make any difference either, but it won't stop SKY and their team of experts from making it out to be the best decision ever for the game.
Maybe the proposed NRL takeover will give a few heads a wobble and sort things out once and for all.
agree there - the owners of all 3 promoted teams knew before they went up what the terms were - if not acceptable turn the offer down
York have been playing the system with regard to non dom players - they have the max registered with them and the same with Newcastle, and make loans when it suits - the rfl are closing this loophole next season
Interesting to see all 3 promoted teams are in the bottom 4 with the ever present cellar dwellers shuddersfield
it will be very interesting to see who makes way for London ( even if London don’t really make it in the IMG gradings)
