Any sort of victory will do, just so we can rid ourselves of that big fat zero in the W column!

So do I, spelly, as I’ve backed swinton to win in Bob’s. prediction thread

Hope you get at least one right mate!

What’s your view on Littler as a coach, Spelly?

What’s your view on Littler as a coach, Spelly?

Similar to the board's mate to be honest!

There's been some woeful performances, as I've detailed on here, but last Sunday, despite missing out on a trip to Middlesex next month, the team showed that they'd not thrown in the towel, so yes, Littler's the man for the job at present in my opinion.

Sunday is massive, and I've said that previously this season. We're in the poo at present, and if we lose to Thunder, the alarm bells will be ringing even louder, but.............

As I've mentioned on here a million times, I'm the eternal optimist, so.................

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!

Lions 30-36 Thunder, but enough of that.

The major incident in the game came off the park, with Dave Jones our honorary president, and a guy I've known for many, many years, being rushed to hospital, with what appeared to be a heart attack.

The response of the medical staff from both clubs, was brilliant, as the match was halted,  and I cannot praise them highly enough!

The ambulance was there in no time at all, so huge credit to that team as well

There was a delay of about twenty minutes, with the players returning to the dressing rooms.

I've not had an update as to how Dave is, and as soon as I know something, I'll post it on here,

Fingers crossed.

Update.........

"Stable, but confused as to what happened." has just been placed on our Facebook Page, so cautious optimism sat present.

Let’s hope Dave makes a full recovery Spelly. Thank god for the wonderful medics on hand to make sure he got the best treatment.

I noticed on the BBC the game was suspended I was wondering why.

Honestly mate, they were amazing. A huge credit to their profession.

Apparently the ambulance team praised their work as well.

It truly was inspiring to witness at very close quarters what they did, and how quickly they reacted to the emergency.

OK, there was a match yesterday, and Thunder came out of it 36-30 to the good.

They led 30-0, and were ahead of the clock, before we even woke up! It was truly painful to watch just how poo we were!

But we responded with three quick tries of our own, and at the break, it was 30-18 and we were (undeservedly) still in the contest.

They scored first after the re-start to lead 34-18, only for us to bag a brace, and it was suddenly 34-30, before the unfortunate incident in the stands halted the game.

The only score after the resumption was a pen to them, although we were twice denied a try for "held up"

Did the delay favour them, as they were reeling, and we were on a bit of a roll? Perhaps, but you can't expect to give a side a thirty point start in a must win game, and expect to get summat out of the contest.

Over the eighty, they notched six tries to our five, so the margin was prob just about right.

Things are desperate at the Lions at present, and it won't be any easier next week, as 'Fax are the visitors, and they stuffed Wembley bound York yesterday.

No further updates on Dave, so hopefully, no news is good news.

And on the playing front................

Three difficult games await us in our continued battle to avoid the drop.

First up tomorrow, we host 'Fax, who are on a bit of a roll, and put the Knights to the sword last Sunday, then......

A week later, we're off down the Smoke, to face (full time) Danny's Disciples, then........

In a fortnight, we head the other way entirely, for a face-up with 'Haven, up there on the West Cumbrian coastline.

We've gotta break our duck soon! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Lions 4-34 'Fax this aft, and the scoreline tells no lies.

The visitors didn't even have to engage top gear against us, but still won with a hell of a lot to spare.

There's just no spark there on the park at present for us, and whilst I'll not say "We're down!" until the maths say so, realistically, Llanelli, Coventry, and Wrexham postcodes will need to be put in the sat-navs next season.

It's grim being a Swinton fan at the moment but we've been through it before, and I'll be down the Smoke next week, large as life, and twice as ugly!

Another hugely difficult game for us on Sunday, as we head "darn sarf" for a visit to the (full time) Broncos,  with a P10, L10 record. Can we finally turn our season round?

The mood amongst the fans is far from great, with a goodly few not going to Ealing, so I reckon there'll be no more than a couple of dozen of us at Trailfinders.

There's a post on our Facebook page from a guy who's watched us for as long as me, saying "This is the worst Swinton team I've ever seen!" But he'll be one of the few who'll be there!

Obviously, we're going more in hope, than confidence, but surely a win's gotta come sometime!

It's a pretty busy weekend for yours truly, starting with the England game at Wire tomorrow evening. Then on Saturday (weather permitting) my daughter and son-in-law are hosting a barbie to celebrate Mackenzie's 21st, before we hit the motorways on Sunday morning, which is the actual day he turns 21, so..............

Will the Lions give him a nice birthday present?

Whats the main problems at Swinton atm? Seems to me that the club was already living on sand due to the quality of the squad.

With the squad we'd assembled, I honestly thought mid-table was (again) a reasonable target, but............

How wrong I've been!

We had a decent start, with a win at the Bulls in a friendly, then in cup-ties against Thunder, and the Roughyeds, and things were looking positive, but.........................

We've seriously gone backwards since, starting with that second half collapse at Oldham in the opening league game, when we didn't even trouble the scorers.

Injuries haven't helped, with three of 'em being season-long, but more than one or two of the performances left a lot to be desired.

What's gone wrong? I wish I knew, but losing becomes a habit, and including the cup reverses to Wire, and York, we've now come second in a dozen outings on the spin.

I think the vast majority, if not all fans, are resigned to us going down, but............

Could one win change the scenario? Possibly, and......................

I remain the eternal optimist!

Spelly.
