When was the last time you took the spoils at mount pleasant spelly?

2016 mate - We scored a try that day from the now defunct "free play" law.

It's never easy there coz of the hill, and I've come away disappointed on many occasions.

We just need to kick on from that, by sending Raiders home with nowt on Sunday.

Spelly.

Lions 20-18 Raiders this aft, with our winning try coming less than two minutes from the final hooter!

Twice we were down to twelve coz of yellow cards, and were eight points astray with not long left, but............

Spirit we are not short of, and two late tries saw us through.

Fifth in the still embryonic Championship table, as we head to 'Haven next week, who suffered a real stuffing at POR today.

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!!

'Haven away on Sunday won't be easy!

Trips to West Cumbria never are, but they'll be up for it big style, as they're on P3, L3, and will see it as a "must win" game.

We still have a few guys in the treatment room, but as I've mentioned previously, there's no lack of spirit in the team, for which Allan Coleman must take huge credit.

Baling out in Keswick on the way up for some delightful fish and chips at the sit-in chippy called the Keswickian.

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven 20-4 Lions at the Rec today, and beaten by a better side!

We had a shed-load of possession in the first half, but poor game management, and top defence from them, score just the solitary try.

After the re-start, they bossed the game completely, and we didn't trouble the scorers again.

York at home is next up for us, and we'll have to improve on today if we're gonna get anything out of that fixture!

@spelly Your lot are messing up my prediction league forecasts big time. I don't think I have predicted any of your results correctly yet!

Seriously though yesterday excepted you must be delighted with your start to the season. Hope you can maintain it to stay up.

Hiya mate!

1) It's frustrating with our inconsistency, coz with better game management, we could've been on P4, W4, but....

2) Conversely, we only won twice in the entire campaign the last time we were in the middle tier, so...........

I'm a glass half full man at present!

A difficult March awaits us, with home games against York and Fev, bisected by the trip to Barrow in the Cup.

I said before a ball was kicked, that anything better than third bottom would be a bonus, and (touch wood)  we're there at present.

Spelly.

Lions 0-40 Knights this aft, and as the old saying goes - "We were lucky to get nil!"

Ten in the treatment room, inc all three hookers, but there's no excuse for falling off tackles like we did, and we never looked like scoring. It was just one of those days!

I can't recall when we were last nilled at home, but...........

It wasn't the best of afternoons for you mob either, I would imagine!

You seem to be two different teams so far Spelly. Admittedly, you've played teams I'd have expected you to lose against and won, but also teams I thought you'd beat but lost to.

So (and given your injury list), which team do you think will see out the rest of the season? The one that keeps you up, or the one that's the "plucky loser"?

(I only ask because, like many others, your team is buggering up my predictions!) 😡

The club have just posted an update on the injury list, and as there's no DRs on Sunday, coz it's the cup (their words, not mine) " ----- down to the bare bones."

Following the Barrow game, we host Fev, which I'm not holding my breath for, then it's a trip "down the smoke" and after our last two league games, it has to be a "must win" fixture for us!

We knew before a ball was kicked, it wasn't going to be easy, but the eternal optimist in me, still prevails!

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!

From a squad of twenty seven, nine are ruled out for Sunday, so .......................

As the old saying goes "Don't arrive too early, or you might get a game!"

It's easy to say, but after our last two woeful performances, things can only get better for us up at CP.

So the Wembley Dream starts yet again on Sunday!

We've not won the Cup since 1928, and not been in the final since 1932, but hope springs eternal when you're a Lion!

Mid morning start for Craven Park, allowing plenty of time for lunch at Weatherspoon's.

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Raiders 32-14 Lions at a nippy Craven Park today, and the Wembley dream is put on hold for another twelve months!

We have a shed-load of injuries, but we managed to get seventeen to play today, but I'm far from convinced they were all fully fit!

We led 10-0, and dared to dream, but that was as good as it got, and we didn't trouble the scorers again until the dying moments, when the game had (long) gone.

The effort was there, and we clapped 'em off at the end, but (especially with the Pinks stuffing FC) I've had better weekends.

Fev come a-calling next week, and they'll be stinging after ducking to 'Fax today, so.............

Words like "breath" "holding" "my" and "not" spring to mind!

Spelly.
