Broncos 38-24 Lions, at Trailfinders this aft, and another silver medal for us!
It was a monumental show from my mob, and whilst the hosts shaded it, the margin in the scoreline, does us no favours.
We led 6-0, trailed 18-6, but hit back with a brace, and it was 18-18 at the break.
We scored early doors after the re-start, to nudge us in front 24-18 but couldn't hold on, and Sammut showed once or twice what a quality footballer he still is.
I've mentioned before, how we've had some real bad luck with injuries, and it got no better today, with wingers Roberts, and Butt, goin off with nasty looking knocks.
We really shaped up today, but the annoying / frustrating fact is, that if we'd done summat similar against the likes of Oldham, Dewsbury, and Newcastle, we would not have the big fat zero in league points, that we (still) have.
'Haven away next week, preceded by a call at the "Keswickian" in Keswick. It's an upmarket, sit-in chippy, and serves the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. Been many times, and I recommend it to you!
Spelly.
PS - Well done on your great win at the Bulls!
Keswick must be a stronghold for fish and chips as I went to the Kingfisher last time I was there and found it to be excellent.
You should try Frasers on Tangier Street in Whitehaven. Good win for Whitehaven yesterday.
It could be another tough game for Swinton, but you are due a win.
I've mentioned a load of times this season about our injuries, but.........
For the trip to 'Haven, Stuart Littler has been able to name only eighteen players, one of which is a trialist from Coventry! So we must be on the lowest of lows on body numbers. it's not gonna be easy!
From the comments on our boards, it seems like we're taking a decent following, so hopefully, we can finally get that elusive win! Fingers and toes, well and truly crossed! And then...............
If so, who knows? But.........
Come what may, W, L, or D, my (biased) report will appear right here!
COME ON YOUN LIONS!!!!!!!
Spelly.
'Haven 36-22 Lions this aft up at the Rec this aft, and it's now the round dozen in P and L columns.
We scored first, but by the interval, the hosts were 18-6 ahead.
We started the second half like a train, and in no time at all, we were 22-18 to the good, but.........
We're sadly lacking an organiser of the Ian Watson ilk, who would've stepped up to kick on from there, and close it out for a win, but............
They took charge instead, and the margin of victory is prob pretty fair, over the eighty minutes.
We managed to put seventeen on the park, without the trialist, but Luis Roberts who was injured last week, didn't seem fully fit even in the warm up, and he limped off before half-time, and as the players came over to us after the hooter (I reckon there was about eighty of us there) he had a huge bandage on his knee. So I would suggest that he put his hand up to play, despite carrying a knock>
Everyone put a shift in, so no complaints there, but the bleak fact still remains that the big fat zero in the W column, in still there for all to see.
Next up for us is Sheff at home next week. I hope that we can (finally) get the monkey off our back, coz if we don't, I'm sure that down at Wembley in a fortnight, more than one fan will remind me that "You've not won all season!"
The good news is The Keswickian's fish and chips, were as delicious as ever!

I’ll be honest- I don’t rate him at all.
Would be surprised if we keep him next year

He's not all bad! We just have better wingers now than he is.
Wing happens to be a position we are strong in, that he has dropped down our rankings doesn't make him a bad player.
Buckley certainly has the size and pace to be a decent winger at this level. Never really been given a decent run in the team, but sometime a bit uncertain under a high ball.
I hope he can come good at Swinton and help you get a couple of wins.

We've named twenty for Sunday (including Buckley) which at least is an improvement on the eighteen of last week, but Mickey Butt is still missing following that injury he picked up down at the Broncos.
Can we finally get the monkey off our back? We've gotta win one soon surely!

I’ve predicted a Swinton win on BOB’s thread Spelly, not out of pity but because they have started to look like a winning team.

Lions 22-30 Eagles this aft, and apologies to those who tipped us in the prediction league, coz we let you down!
The eight point margin flatters us, as two late tries, both goaled from the touchline by Ridyard, gave the scoreline an unreal look.
Our kicking game was really poor, and too many gaps were left in the defence.
Sheff are nowt special, but were still to good for us. Our sorry league record is now at P13, L13, and that losing run extends to 15, if the cup-ties against Wire and York are included.
Talking of the City Knights, they seem to have gone backwards since beating us in the semi. They took a pounding at the Broncos today, and I reckon Fev will stuff 'em big style next week.
Just to rub salt in the wounds, whilst we were coming second (again) the Pinks were putting 70 past the Powell Patrol, and even though the Wheldon Roaders named pretty much a reserve side, it's hardly the ideal preparation for the final.
Am I going to Wembley? Of course I am, I'll be wearing my Swinton shirt, and I'm having a bet on McShane as m-o-m.
Our next appointment is in a fortnight, and it's a trip to the Minster City for us.
