Looks like they’ve been rescued and will be playing again next season, with money from Wakefield council and the RL

Can someone explain this so that it makes sense?

The £500k Featherstone Rovers rescue deal as RFL to buy ground

Why does the RFL intervene to such a large extent for some clubs and not for others? We haven't owned our own ground for a long time but it really seemed that there was very little help from the RFL on both occasions we entered administration.

It does seem that the RFL is selective in which Clubs they support. Maybe the RFL realise that the game needs to maintain the support in traditional rugby league areas. Having said that this part of West Yorkshire does seem to be particularly well served.

Personally, I hope that Featherstone can get back into the Championship. They have been a competitive team at this level for many years and had a hard core of supporters. It perhaps has more to do with maintaining the number of clubs in the Championship to ensure viability of that league.

Agree that it would be nice to see fev back, but why couldn’t the RFL support clubs like Blackpool who had been around many years ?

They & us were not in Yorkshire! The game has always favoured Yorkshire clubs.

On a similar pattern of bias. When tours used to happen there were always one or two unexpected players from Yorkshire clubs. I well remember Poynton of Wakefield being chosen in 1996 & Frank Myler missed out.

Probably Right, but bramley were let go - but as I recall it was their choice to go back to amateur, similar to London skolars and Hemel

blackpool went bust , I thought they had their own ground ( borough park ? )

huyton moved everywhere and then went tits up - but when they played in one of their earlier versions actually had good crowds
