As far as I’m concerned Gelling should be allowed back into the game regardless.
For him to be excluded would be a huge double standard. How can we allow drugs cheats, class A drug abusers, drink drivers etc etc back into the game but not someone who is alleged to have struck his wife? Before anyone starts, of course I’m not condoning it. All I am saying is that if we start banning rugby players who have committed assault offences, then it has to be applied to them all not just to those where the victim is their partner. The application of the law outside of rugby should be left to the authorities.
Did anyone notice his breaking free from the handcuffs celebration after he scored ?

I saw it, but until I read your post, I didn't realise what it was!
Well spotted mate!
Spelly.
Cleared of punching his partner by the court today.
There is a report on the RL page of BBC News.

That's some self defence.I wasn't there but perhaps getting out of the way of the car might've been a better option or reaching in and turning off the ignition.
Wife beater, end of.
Gelling has left Leigh to return home.
Seems like he came over for the case and has took himself back over there now it’s over

He basically got Leigh to pay for his flights/digs while the trial was going on, then earned a bit of cash on top. He’s not as daft as he makes out
