1895 Cup

The draw will be made on Sunday for this comp. There'll be a preliminary round, but Keighley, 'Yeds, and the (other) Vikings are exempt from that, as they still have Wembley aspirations.

The final is (prob) at Wakey, on August Bank Holiday Monday, and we're due to be darn the smoke on the Sunday 24 hours previously. I would imagine the odds of the Broncos not being involved at Belle Vue, are pretty remote, so when will / would the league clash be staged?

We were thinking of making a weekend of it, but that looks unlikely now!

Spelly.

Hi Spelly. We have Sheffield away on 30th August. So that would have to be changed too if we were to get to the final.

The final should be at York or Blackpool - right size ground, good transport links, plenty of hotels, food and drink places.

Whilst it's every player, and fan's dream to play beneath the Arch, holding it after the "big one" was always flat beer, as the vast majority huge of those with tickets were heading for pubs / coaches / trains, leaving the stadium almost empty.

The ladies' game is the curtain-raiser, so I think finding an alternative venue needed to be found.

As a stand alone game, Blackpool would be (in my opinion) be ideal, but........

How's about having it before the GF Final at OT, with a (say) 3.30 KO?

Wakey (to me) just seems like a random pick.

So it's London v who in the final?

Spelly.

@spelly

don’t be so negative - the London rich boys may decide not to risk players in the 1895 to ensure they win the league

I think the final should be played in a development area ( like Newcastle was)

so why not Walsall - right near motorway links and gives the hurricanes chance to find new fans

also I reckon we will be in the prelim rounds - hopefully at home

So it's Sheff at home in the plerims, then 'Ornits away should we see off the Eagles.

Lockyer's Lads also  in the plerims, hosting the Raiders.

Dews away for you mob. Are you happy with that?

Not sure after their win yesterday - yet not looked at Newcastle team, they may have had to withdraw a few of the York loanees

but you probably know, where are the best pubs near the ground ?
thinking of going up on the Saturday, have a scouting mission for the Sunday, then back off down the M1 early doors monday

* Not now I don't! The Royal Oak was a top pub, that served exo food. Went there a goodly few times, but last season it was closed, and to my knowledge, the shutters are still up.
